Do you like your local gun shop?

Used to have a small gun shop in a small town where I knew the owner. Every Saturday I was there, bought my first rifle there, a 30-30 for $85. I refered all my buddies to his place and have spent alot of money there as well. After 10 years he builds a new shop and hires a bunch of turds to run it. Trading was a mainstay at the old shop and it was fair priced, he'd make some on trade-in and some on the bought gun. Now it's like a used car lot, they talk down a trade and try to rape you on the new price. Last time I went in, this is just what happened. I told them good luck and havent been back since. I really miss that place when it was small.

My old one, no, total dicks. They were the typical "if you arent here to pay 50% more than anywhere else, we dont want your business" and "your 'internet knowledge' is not welcome here" type of place. Every DPMS/Bushy/Armalite AR was $1700 and they wouldn't stop eating their lunch or talking with a friend to let me look at a rifle.(I am only 27) They preyed on old people who were out of touch with actual gun prices.

My new shop, yes. Palmetto State Armory opened a store last year, I went in the first day they opened their doors and got a tour and a free hat I talked to the owner for about an hour. I think I have been in there at least 4 times a month since.

I too have been very impressed by Palmetto State Armory. That place has been very busy lately, but the guys in there are very good about answering questions and are always polite and helpful. It doesn't hurt that their prices are generally the best in town.

By the way, I'm almost sure I know where your "old" gun store was. ;)

Why wouldn't I like a dealer that sells 9mm and .38 spl factory fresh ammo for $10 a box?
And when I drop enough coin on ammo, waives an inbound transfer fee (an already low $25 per firearm.
And operates his business late in the evening, which works well since I rarely am able to get any personal errands.
His shop is always crawling with local PD, they're generally a decent bunch, and listening to their banter is... interesting.

There are a few employees at the local shop that won't even give me a second glance, even if I've been staring at a gun for 15 minutes. There are, however, two or three that will sit there and BS with me for 45 minutes on a busy Saturday, show me 30 guns, and tell me "when you're done saving up for it, come see me and I'll see what kind of deal we can work out", and answer any and all questions I can to the best of their knowledge. So I guess I love and hate my LGS. It really depends on who's working.
