i do. here are mine:

ria 1911a1 tactical: lacey (also my girlfriend's name, my girl and this gun are alike, beautiful, powerful, relieable, and a keeper)
taurus pt111 mil pro: beth (looking to sell beth)
stevens model 15a: kim (my first rifle)
m91/30: kate (old reliable)
remington 870: paula (paula scares crackheads and loves deer...)
sks: samantha (one fun gun)

I have named a couple guns. I had a lot of trouble with a SIG P238 and Diamondback but it wouldn't be "high road" to say the names.:D

I do sometimes call the AR pistol a "Paint Ball Gun", because, well it looks like a Paint Ball Gun.

i've had a few whose names would not be family friendly... like an armscor shotgun i once had. and let's not forget my old jennings 22. now the raven i had was a decent sns but i gave it to a friend of mine who was being stalked...

Have a Sgt many years ago that named his nickle plated Smith 5 screw "Chaquita" and stuck a Chaquita Banana sticker on it...

I have a Commander that I call "Blood".. No, not because I shot someone with it,,, Because we made a cutting once, where the victim shot blood all over us from a severed artery, I was applying some direct pressure until an ambulance arrived, some got on the pistol.. I did not notice it for a few days, and it etched the finish.. er go, the name "Blood"... Folks have asked how did I mar the finish like that.. the answer.."Blood" and I leave it at that... it gets some reactions...

Typically a gun that deserves a name is a gun with a history behind it to justify the name, hence only three of mine are named.

Fortune, Fate, and Sin.

Fortune, I won in a game of cards during my visit to Las Vegas.

It was Fate that Fortune had visited me earlier that day. Surely, it was fate that brought the next weapon into my life.

Sin.. Well Sin is a black FNH SCAR-16S with an interesting history. And that's all I'm saying.

Sort of reminds me of a guy who kept calling his dog and it would not come so in desperation he yelled out "come here damitt" and the dog came , so from then on his name was damitt. I don't name my guns but my ruger red label 20ga got the name "sweet thang" from a friend of mine's wife who likes to borrow it for dove hunting.

No. The thought never occurred to me. I have named my cars in the past, and I name my computers (though that is more practical - DNS addressing is just easier by name than remembering IP addresses), but I've never named any of my guns.

Since I have no gun names to share, I'll share my computer names (mostly named after females too): Akima (Linux Desktop), Cassie (Windows Gaming machine), Galatea (Virtual machine host used for testing stuff), Six (my Macintosh), Cortana (Linux laptop), and Ghanima (standalone NAS device)

I named my deer rifle (mauser 243) Shiloh.

I also my named my model 29 S&W Alabaster

actually my wife has....

ria 1911 : woody
glock 26: buzz
s&W 340: bullseye
browning buckmark: Jane (her gun)

Toy story anyone? lol

I have only named two: Franken9 built out of parts from the gunsmith's junk box; and MixMaster, produced by swapping uppers from two guns to get all the features I wanted in one.

no, they are inadimate objects, the company already named them.

No, but I had an ar10 that one of my sons nicknamed "Thumper." It was his first centerfire that he fired larger than .223, and mainly because his arms were to short to shoulder anything larger than a youth rifle (and even most of those were too short).

I have a Tikka 30-06 I've named Helga. I can go to sleep in the woods and she'll start to shake to wake me up if a deer comes around. :)

My wife had a 1911 in .38 Super that she called Buffy (the Vampire slayer) because of the Silvertips that came with it and the 3 foot flames when fired at dusk.

I only name my sawed-offs. The only one I have now is Handy Dan. A single 12 with an 18.5 inch barrel I use for camping and varmit removal.

only 1 of them

I sometimes call my 5" bbl S&W 460 MAg. "Marge." As in Large Marge. There are 3 reasons.

1. It's just funny to me.

2. My Grandma's name was Marge, and she hated guns. It's my way of ribbing her in the after life. She had a good sense of humor though, so I don't think she would be mad.

3. A sweet old lady of the age of 85 used to volunteer at my office. She lived an hour outside of town, was at the office every morning by dawn, and answered the door of her home with a .38 special in hand. Her name was Marge also, and I think she'd like it.

Consequently, when she finally had to move into an old folks home because she couldn't care for herself or her home any more (age 87) she was mad because they wouldn't let her bring her gun. She was one hard woman, and as nice as could be. She really knew how to LIVE in the middle of nowhere.

Which ever one(s) that I have with me at the time gets named "Roscoe".

The others get de-commissioned when they go to the safe.

No - not personally.

However, my father-in-law's mentor back in the '50s did this, but only with his flintlocks.

I now own 'The Little Beauty' and my brother-in-law has 'The Lame Lung'
