Do you own a 2nd or 3rd copy of your EDC?

I have similar guns with different purposes; an silver and blackSR9c in the bedroom with a laser dot, and an all black SR9C in a kit with multiple magazines and my Ruger mag blocked PC Charger ;

I’ve got a number of 5900 and 6900 third gen S&Ws that shares mags with my Keltec Sub2k, and a 6904 as the specific carry gun.

I like the idea from over a century ago where the pistol and rifle share the same ammo, and I do it with both the ammo and the magazines. And everything fits in a non branded, nondescript case

One bag,one grab, everything I need. May not solve every situation, but most that I can envision.

3, all shoot the same in my hands. I thought the GX4xl would shoot a little better with the longer sight radius, but no. I would think it has a little more steam than the shorter barrels. All ride nicely in my front pocket. Cost about $1000 for all three and that's why I have three instead of just two.

Short answer is yes.

but not just because of fear of breakage or being confiscated. That all plays into it.
But when I pay good money for a training class and for whatever reason I might have a failure. I don’t waste time, I swap to my backup gun or magazines and keep running.
My guns are exact duplicates except my primary is a Gen 1 M&P 40c with 40/9 conversion barrel and my backup is. M2.0 subcompact 3.6 with a second 40/9 conversion barrel. Essentially the same guns just 1 generation different. Uses the same holsters mags, etc.
Both guns have Trijicon HDXC sights, Apex 1 pc polymer triggers, played with springs and setup so pull weight is within 2 oz, reset the same, duplicate Inforce APLc lights, frame mods done by myself, opened up the mag well a little and smoothed out rough edges, etc.
Even have a 2nd set of (4) magazines ready to go.

my primary gun has 20k + through it. I shoot my backup gun occasionally to makes sure it’s running good at all times. But anytime if something stops running, I simply pull out the backup and finish the day and figure out what is wrong later at my workbench.
This is when you discover weak mag springs, recoil springs, mag release rounded off around 18k rounds, etc.

No, some are the same brand. I carry a 638, 640 in .38 Special along with an LCP .380 and a Kahr CM9 9mm. The commonality is they are all double action only (I know the 638 isn’t but that is how it is used 99%). No safeties or other barriers in deployment.
