How Do You Holster Your EDC?

Here's the difference:

I follow your paradigm, and I forget to lock my safe.

I follow my paradigm, and equally forget to lock my safe.

The neighbor's son TJ, who's 4, stays the night at our house a time or two every month, they're over here 4-5 days a week. My son and TJ are playing, as they do, and notice my safe is open.

Which would you rather TJ find inside of my safe? TJ, who is NOT my son, and NOT trained in safe firearms handling, NOT taught to leave firearms alone, but IS a red blooded American 4yr old boy, with an inquisitive interest and an admiration for firearms.

Would you have him find my unloaded pistol, or your loaded one?

I agree. The only loaded guns in my house are my carry and nightstand guns, both go in their own locked safes (closet and mounted on a wall) in my bedroom.

Everything else is locked empty in the big gun safe, though there are a few loaded mags for my .300 BLK carbine accessible "in case of emergency"

right now my edc is a glock 30. i carry it all the time and it comes out of the holster every night as a night stand gun. i dry-fire the gun often and part of that process is holstering and unholstering the weapon. i'm not afraid to holster my weapon.

part of my practice is to place my thumb on the back of the slide when holstering. putting the thumb on the back of the slide automatically pulls your trigger finger out straight (unless you force it back to a curved state). this habit, in my opinion, will keep my trigger finger out of the trigger guard when holstering in a stressful situation. try it and see!

luck,

murf
