Do you spend as much time choosing the ammo as the gun

I bought a 100 round value pack of WWB 9mm and was loading my second mag when I happened to notice the cartridge I just loaded didn't look right, the bullet look crooked so I touched it with the tip of my thumb and the bullet fell out of the case and spilled powder, the case looked thin and deformed.

I won't carry substandard ammo for SD, for me it's about trust more than accuracy.

I understand people's sentiment about not carrying cheap range fodder for SD but I often wonder why some folks seem to have little attachment to their eyes and appendages when stuffing said same into the chamber thousands of times while practicing. Odds are more likely that threat to life and limb will occur there rather than the minuscule chance of an SD shooting. If my range loads let go and kaboom I have only myself to blame.

Well Big Sky, you'll be pleased to know that at MidWay alone there are 30+ types of bullet for 9mm in stock, 4 varieties of brass as well. Dies from numerous companies are also available and as primers and powder are available to me locally, I will remain convinced that said same are also available online for purchase. If you wish for objections, you may be certain that nothing comes from doing nothing.

I had, but continued to purchase components to load for .357, .38 SPL, 9mm, 30-06, 40 S&W, 5.56, .223 and .45ACP throughout the "drought". Having a larger footprint helps as something is bound to be in stock but I'd wager an hour on my phone could net me all the reloading supplies I need.
What kills the deal for me with online purchasing is the shipping cost. It's the main reason I don't purchase from Midway, their shipping rates to Montana are sky high. Right now the hardest thing to find here is powder, and by the time you figure in Hazmat fees and shipping it's pretty much unaffordable unless one can buy in very large quantities. Bullets aren't quite as bad, but still are pretty spendy to ship. I have ordered a few things from Graf and Sons, mainly because they offer flat rate shipping.

Since I cast for my revolvers and I already have a couple of drums of powder and plenty of primers for them, I will simply shoot them more until local availability of reloading supplies loosens up a bit. I'm not overly worried, as I have plenty of other guns besides my 9mm's to shoot.
