I'm curious as to how much money people spend on the shooting arts. I was just thinking about how much I spent on the purchase of guns, holsters, ammo, range fees, and the fact that I just put a deposit on another pistol, I think I spend about $1500 - $2000 per year (more during other years depending on the number of guns I bought). I'm also thinking about adding stuff to other guns (ie. different sights, grips, magwells, etc.). I'm curious, how much do other THR members spend in a typical year? (and does your significant other mind?)

I am too scared to add it up! However, I do know that it is LESS than I would have had to spend on a 'shrink' otherwise! So, see, it is a BARGIN!!!!

hmm

doing math now

ACK!!!!

:scrutiny:

about 2 grand by my calculation.

I would expect to spend about the same over the course of the next year

If my company is monitoring this usage, I could really use that raise about now!

Somewhere around $6k between Jan-02 and the present. It's been a good year :)

I know exactly how much (plus a few cash expenditures). It was less than I wanted to and probably more than I should have. Over 3K, which included a couple of nice guns. Don't tell my wife.

I SOLD more and bought less gun stuff

I sold more and spent less, I only bought about $100.00 worth of
ammo last year, this year I havent been buying much gun stuff.

And I thought i was the only guy who spent thousands of dollars a year and not telling his wife. Thats the great thing about seperate bank accounts.

I'll just round it out to $2000 + gas. That doesn't include contributions. On my income that is definitely more than I should have spent. But I can justify it by considering that I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs, so I spend a heck of a lot less than if I did any of those things.

If I added it up, I'd probably hang myself, so I won't.

"A whole frickin' lot" would be pretty accurate, if somewhat of an understatement. ;)

Lets see. See I basically started from scratch. Has to be close to 10k. 2 AR's with optics, 1 Browning Citori, 8 Pistols, ammo, cleaning supplies, carry permit, new clothes for former.

Being single, priceless:D

This year so far, 9mm AR and a Kahr. DEFINATELY ALOT LESS!!

Hmm, are we talking just consumables or assets as well? I have the exact numbers (down to the penny pretty much), but I need a better definition of what to include as I have seperate accounts for assets, shooting supplies, reloading equipment and the like ;-).

Would one include match fees too?

Okay, I'm gonna guess between my wife and I, probably $5K.. And I don't have to hide it cause she's into it as much as I am ;-)

$3800ish.
:what:
I only make $~15k each year and currently am in college.
I definitely should not have added that all up...

In my defense, that includes all gun related stuff such as hats, shirts, etc and about half the tooling in my shop as its used for WECSOG'ing (included was the price of digital readouts for my milling machine, talk about $$$). My parents also pay half my tuition, and the money I didnt spend (just barely) paid for my half and all my books and stuff.

Guns acquired over that period include a Sistema, CZ52, beater AK, FAL (including all the tools to assemble it, which cost about half as much as the rifle itself), two SKSs and all the ammo and accessories that go with the above (along with tooling and parts to customize another 1911). Another lame excuse is that I got my C&R during that time period. I'm not in debt, as I budget each paycheck accordingly and save the cash I need for each tuition bill, but I never sat down and added it all up.

I'm gonna show up at work early today.

I figure I shucked out about $5k. But, well, they were all good deals -- too good to pass up, in fact.

Of course, that is what the wife hears.

Way, way, way too much.

That's why we are not buying any more guns until Dec 2004. ;)

Now we just have to accessorize...

Those credit card people really love us. We did manage to charge interest-free for 9 months now, though, but it's all about to end.
