Wondering if you take off your rings off fingers when shooting. I don't wear big rings but this one guy I saw at the range one time had these huge ass rings on his fingers, they look thick and bulky. I don't know how he can get a good grip like that. Also I'm sure it somehow nicks the metal/wood on the grip after a range session.

If I was handling something like a tricked out 1911, I would certainly remove any jewelry because recoil may mar the finish. I wouldnt have a problem wearing rings shooting a Glock or anything with a fairly resilient grip.

I only wear a wedding ring and a watch. Both come off when working out in the gym or dojo, or when handling certain power tools. Otherwise the ring doesn't get in my way when shooting, though the watch will come off in hot weather. Like dukeofurl said, not worried about marring my Glock.....and my shotguns don't care.;)

When the so called "Smart Gun" is the only gun for sale, we will have to get used to wearing rings so we can make it work.

Rings

I wear my wedding band, engagement ring and the ring that my husband got me for valentine's day one year and have never had any problems shooting with them. Besides I am afraid if I take them off I will lose them.

My fiancee and I have both agreed not to wear wedding rings, or wear something extremely strong like the newer tungsten rings (neither of us care for gold). We both work with our hands a lot... I do electronics and repair as a hobby, she likes to fix her own cars and she's been through part of diesel mechanic school. We both realize it'd be too easy to leave a ring on and ruin it (and perhaps ruin or lose a finger while we're at it).

However.... were I to wear a ring every day, I'd wear it while practicing. Why? Because it would affect my grip, and anything that affects my grip wil affect my aim. If I practiced bare handed and got to where POA was instinctual, and SHTF at home and I was wearing a ring, how disappointed would I be that I missed because my trigger contact point changed?

That's a drastic comparison, but the point is valid...

Since I wear my wedding ring and a signet ring on a daily basis, never taking off either, I shoot with them on. If the yougurt hits the fan, I'm not going to have time to take 'em off, so I do in practice and matches what I'd do IRL.

My wedding ring has been on since 1976. It doesn't come off anymore. Too much of my wife's good cooking!!!:D

I marred up the grip of my S&W 66 by shooting when wearing my college ring.

I take everything off now.

Not so worried about the tactical implications in the difference of the grip, have much larger things to worry about.

If you are interested in Defensive shooting, then you should practice with what you will have on; including appropirate clothing if possible.

Hmmmmm....
Not being a Pimp Daddy nor a skank ho ;) (apologies to those that find it necessary to wear 5 or 6 rings but that's really, really tacky IMHO) I only wear one ring - my wedding ring.

It hasn't been off my finger since I got married 25 years ago and I anticipate that I'll go to my grave with it on.

Besides - as one poster pointed out if you carry regularly and practice defensive shooting you should practice while wearing what every you'll probably be wearing if the need ever arises to actually shoot defensively.

I don't take off my wedding ring. It does sometimes dig into my ring finger on my right hand a bit while shooting, but it's not a big deal.

You need to add a new category. I can't... When I put my wedding ring on 14 years ago, I was a bit smaller. I imagine it will have to be cut off someday if someone wants it.

Left hand wedding band, won't come off cause my wife's cooking is great, Right hand Braided silver ring just a little fatter than my wedding band that I got on a Missions trip to Mexico and it just about doesn't come so I leave it on.

I only wear a wedding ring and it doesn't seem to get in the way. Like others have indicated, I prefer to train the same way I may have to fight. Some BG isn't going to give a few seconds to take off my ring.

I'm in the camp of only wearing a wedding ring. I could take it off if you give me a quart of 5w-20 and a half hour. I'll even give you the piece of skin I scrape of my knuckle. :D 16 years and 40 pounds make a difference.

Never been a concern shooting...watch either for that matter. They are both on my off hand.

Wedding ring only and it stays on when I shoot. I do take it off often, when I spend long hours typing, as its outer pattern begins to rub me the wrong way and then it goes on my keyboard. I would be afraid of loosing it if I took it off while shooting.

I voted "no."

I don't wear rings even my wedding ring. I can't stand the things on my hands for more then a few hours.
