Doc sued for shooting intruder (WI)

For those in Texas, I just got a letter from the TSRA yesterday. One of the items they will be trying to put in this year is a bill on lawsuit protection in cases of self defense. The next legislative session starts in February if I am not mistaken.

In Arkansas any force used by a homeowner against an intruder is presumed to be reasonable force -- but I don't know if this shields the homeowner against lawsuits.

In any case, let me ask the physicians on this board -- do you accept lawyers for patients? And if so, why?:p

I have heard that doctors tend to be extra careful around lawyers and make sure to perform all due dilligence. Most lawyers arent bad people that will jump at any chance to sue, but no one wants to take chances on putting a malpractice suit into the hands of someone who will be uniquely situated to understand exactly what he has been given, know how to proceed and be wealthy enough to pursue it to completion.

I am amazed that some of you guys openly advocate "continued" shooting to prevent a lawsuit. If you ever end up having to do this for real, what if the other party sues you and digs out something you wrote? How are you going to maintain in court that you did not kill the plaintiff's relative after the threat to your life was neutralized?

Not very smart.
