Does a Hollow Point Change the ballistics?

This is from the handgun forum:

"There is nothing wrong with the 9mm as long as you can put some good high speed hollow points in them. For military use a .45 FMJ might be better but ballistically it is equal to a .32 ACP HP!"

Does this really stack up this way? From searches on this forum, I thought the ballistics were related more to weight of bullet and powder charge.
 
Hollow points have a different ballisitc coefficient than round nose.
The air drag is higher and they slow faster.
 
i suspect they were referring to "terminal ballistics"
 
My opinion is the gentleman who wrote that must have been really impressed with the 32ACP HPs.

I also think the poster was talking about terminal ballistics.

The reason hollowpoints are supposed to be "better" is because they are supposed to expand to a larger diameter shortly after impact, creating a larger wound. If I recall what I've read correctly, hollowpoints expand about 60-70 percent of the time.
