Does anybody share a love of German made guns?

I'm not sure about a love for just German guns. I have a love for any well-made, reliable gun.

EAA Windicator sunb-nose revolver in .38 Spl. Made by Weihrauch of Germany.

38snub, i like that Weihrauch Windicator. Got a few questions for you in a PM.

The biggest one is can I buy it in California? I hear guns have to be on an "approved list" before they can be bought here...

My son once told me "A carry piece should be made by people who speak German." That includes, of course, Austria and, by extension, SIGs made in New Hampshire.

One could argue that Sigs are Swiss and should be excluded.

This thread is kinda cute, but as we all know, the best guns come out of Belgium.

Hey Clean--the SIG moniker is titular in nature only since the merger of the companies SIG & Sauer...moreover, most those guns are really Sauers and are in fact made in Germany not Switzerland.

Belgian ones eh, a country that broke off from another country which broke off of Germany a few centuries ago heh. Well, the Hi-Power and P90 are about the only things worth mentioning from there. Germany's got more unparalleled greats than can be named: 220, USP, PSG-1, G36, MP5...etc. :neener:

Some very good guns were made by the Germans, that I would love to own....like 7.5cm PAK 40 ATG, 8.8 cm Flak, preferrably mounted in a PZ IVG and Tiger II, respectively.... :D
Oh, small arms! Yep- STG44 and MP40 would be nice....I already have a Czech carry pistol....

38snub--isn't it funny to think that the Windicator costs less than half that of a S&W compact? On top of that German manufacture. Wonder what gives.

Heck, you pay $200-300 more for a German made automatic!

What a deal.

hey denfoote, that PPK says made in France, ***?!

SIGfiend,
CS is exactly right.
Walther's original factory was in the Soviet zone.
Mere hours before the Russians were to have taken over the plant, the American Technical Intelligence Command went in, cleaned out the plant and spirited Fritz Walther to the American Zone.

In the intervening time , he set up licensing agreements with Maunhrin to produce his entire line, except for the .25ACP pistols, which never sold great anyway.

The French PPs are Walthers since there was no Walther factory at the time!!

Yep but I only have one:

I'd love to get an old MP40 someday.

I bought the last Erma ESP 85a .22 Match Target pistol from the distributor that I use for bullseye shooting. It was one of several high quality models they developed and it has a Lothar Walther barrel.

There are 3 things the Germans are VERY good at, Cars, Guns, and Beer....Unfortunatly, they have not developed a safe way to enjoy them TOGETHER! :fire: :banghead: :cuss:  :D
