I like my mag release to either be ambi or on the right side of the pistol. I use my index finger to actuate the release and it allows mag changes with out significantly altering my strong hand grip. Also it is the same as AR platform and makes muscle memory easy to cement.

Not exactly. But I have a Walther PPS M1 and it has the paddle mag release. I really prefer it for the reason you mentioned.

I do not, but it does sound like a paddle release would work well for you. I enjoyed one (and used my trigger finger) when I spent a bunch of time shooting a Walther P99

I love paddle releases like the P99 or H&K USP! They're just about the only mag release I can hit without adjusting my grip.

I’m another paddle release fan here.

I am surprised how the majority of American gun owners have resisted them. And I am a huge 1911 guy.

I'm left-handed, and actually prefer leaving reversible release buttons in the RH-ed format for that very reason, though it's my middle finger that actuates it, since it's usually right in line along the button. As of now, I only own two gun with reversible buttons (Taurus G2C and TCP738), and one with releases on both sides (Ruger P95.) I still always release from the left side.

Not me, but someone I knew in the army who is a righty set up his M9 like that, because that is what he preferred.
