Does Anyone know a "Natural" Handgun Shot?

I married a city girl that had never seen a real gun much less shot one but after the honeymoon and I brought her to the sticks I put her behind my Ruger Mk1 and she could not miss. I was completely blown away that she could shoot as well as she was with no training or prior use.
I then gave her my .357 and she shot one round and swore never again. But she wanted the .22 back and was rolling a tin can across the yard at 20 yards.
She still won't shoot anything above a 9mm but she is still deadly.

a buddy of mine is the best damn natural shot i've seen. first time at the range, never firing a handgun before, and he was shooting 2"-3" groups at 10, then 15 yds.

Honestly most of the time we complicate things. Shooting is no different. We focus on grip, breathing sight picture grains, caliber etc. My wife the first time she shot said oh I just line up the dot thingys and pull this ok and went to dancing a Sprite bottle down a creekbank. My grandfather alway told me son you think too much its just shooting. He would sit and watch me with all the latest and greatest equipment sit and shoot and shoot practicing my newest technique. When I was done he would reach in his pocket blow the dust of his old snub and rare up shoot and stick it back in his pocket smile and say yep its on. Its not as hard as we make it.

I'm an instructor, been shooting for years, bla bla bla. I'm not an amazing shot, but I can usually hold my own.

However, I got my first J frame a month ago, and I'm been wrestling with it every since. Try as I might, I just can't shoot the gun to save my life. In fact, the webbing on my right hand is bruised this morning because I put 150 rounds down range last night. And at 7 yards I'm still struggling to keep my shots on paper.

But I took my stepmother shooting last week - first time she's ever shot a gun, and after an hour with a .22 and a full sized .357, she consistently put every round in a 4" group with the J frame. Makes my blood boil...

I spent three summers as the director of marksmanship at a higher-end boy's camp about a decade ago. The socio-cultural background of this operation was Jewish--and many of the campers came from the East Coast, etc., and from families unabashedly 'liberal'.

Some parents would show up for, naturally, Parents Day, or just had to come for a visit to see how their son was doing. They'd come to the range with him, and he'd show off. I'd offer to let the father (who usually didn't), mother, or sister / aunt to shoot, and to 'get them started.' Sometimes getting them started included talking about MARKSMANSHIP, and noting that these are not ASSAULT WEAPONS--you get the idea.

Better than 50% of the time, the novice female shooter would outshoot her son / brother / nephew. IMO, it's for all the reasons previously mentioned.

I'm not sure I'd call myself a "natural" but I never held a gun prior to enrolling in a self defense class in the late '90s. After the first day of shooting I was able to out-shoot my instructor who was a marine corp sergeant and he was pretty good.

I took a 17 yr old kid to the range who had never shot a gun in his life (from the east cost w/ liberal parents). He consistently shot tight ten shot groups. I was very impressed period and even more so given his total lack of experience with guns. Maybe video games or something.

I've been helping out as the "babysitter" at the local indoor Rent-A-Gun range on Lady's nights for a few months now. I've had a number of new shooters of both sexes come in and totally blow me away with how well they can shoot after a few basic instructions on holding the gun, how the sights work and to squeeze the trigger rather than snap at it. Many of them have been short and slight oriental girls that were so shy about coming in to shoot guns that I was surprised to see them there.

And I'm not talking about them managing to hit the targets with all the shots. I'm talking about consistent 4 inch groups at around 10 yards.
