I apologize if I am posting this thread in the wrong area. I have come across this author; he seems to be against the Supreme Court ruling that the 2nd amendment is an individual right. He seems to be another who thinks it means "the army shall have the right to keep and bear arms."
This is one of the books he has written : "The Second Amendment: The Intent and Its Interpretation by the States and the Supreme Court."
I had never heard of him and was wondering if anyone here had? I would like some input to counter his views about the 2nd amendment.

I have but can't seem to find much about him only that he has written a few books.

I only wanted to know about him so I could counter his arguments.

One should be able to counter arguments based on the arguments alone. Unless, I suppose, you were going for the ad hominem angle. In that case, I suppose it would be useful to dig up some information on him.

Sometimes you have to hold your nose and buy a book someone wrote to have the ammo to debate them. Or to offer an opinion on them. My wife keeps me honest, she kept after me until I bought Bill Clinton's book, telling me I couldn't say it was a total POS until I read it. I did. It was. And that's $21.95 I'll never see again.

Huh. A review of one of his books by a purchaser claims he "debunks" Halbrook.

>>>I DON'T THINK SO<<<<

Halbrook put up a very good argument; this guy seems to say it's sort of an amalgam, both "collective" and individual....somehow; but based on the need to defend against invasion.
He seems to want his take and to eat it too .... never heard such a meally- mouthed argument.

2 words--

Public Library

If they don't actually have the book on the shelves, they can likely order it for you and no more $21.95 + tax wasted.

Whoa, what a concept...

+1 And if you aren't big on college kids, nosy librarians, lonely middle-aged people, and loud children vying for internet time, you could always keep the receipt and return it after you've read it. It might not exactly be honest, but let's face it: neither are most "authors". Nor is the price they place on the back cover, for that matter. With the price of most books, it is like the author is trying to convince you that he/she themselves are in the back room at Barnes and Nobles, printing pages by hand and binding them with thread and vellum.
