Does anyone pocket carry a Kahr PM9?

I haven't been able to get my mits on one yet, so I'd like to ask if it is comparable in pocketability to such guns like the ruger lcp, taurus tcp or other pocket .380s? Does it fit in a typical jean pocket? I have a taurus 709 and ruger lcp but would like to consolidate by using a pm9 for pocket carry with the flush magazine and IWB carry with the extended magazine.

You need a looser pocket but it will work well.

I have both the KT P3AT and the pm9. I carry the P3AT in a pocket holster and the pm9 in a Crossbreed IWB holtser. IMHO the pm9 is just slightly to big for pocket carry if you wear jeans. It is definitely doable with larger pockets such as cargo pants although still a little heavy. I do have a pocket holster for the pm9 but if you try to put it in the back pocket of jeans it shows at the top a little and is very difficult to retrieve from front pockets so I use that only with the IWB. If you plan on just tucking it into your pocket for a quick trip into a store it works in the pocket. Quite honestly I found when I use it this way I pocket the gun without a holster and put my keys in my weak side pocket. I know this is not the safest thing to do but I would rather put the risk on me being safe then finding myself in a situation unarmed, as I said though, most of the time I have my IWB holster on since it is so comfortable

I have a PM9 & several pocket .380's (Kel-Tec P3AT, LCP & SIG P238) and can tell you if wear the same type jeans as I do,(size 32 waist Cowboy cut) the PM9 is a little too big. Yes you can get it into your front pocket, but it's pretty obvious. I suppose if you wear some type of cargo pants/shorts, then pocket carry may be an option. Inside the waist band holster with an untucked shirt would be a better way to carry a PM9, IMO.

You can do it in a larger pocket, but depending on the type of material it could print pretty noticeably without a pocket holster.

I carry one, in a Mika pocket holster. This gun is larger, heavier and thicker than the little .380s, roughly comparable in size and weight to a lightweight small-frame revolver (but flatter due to no cylinder bulge). In trade, you get seven more powerful 9mm Luger cartridges and real sights. It is tight in jeans pockets, but carries unobtrusively (i.e., minimal bulging) in deeper pockets like those of cargo pants or many casual slacks. You will have to decide whether absolute, total concealment or more cartridge power is more important to you.

I doubt is is as easy to carry in a pocket as the little .380s, but wouldn't know as I would never carry one of them. I do pocket carry the PM9 with no problems and it prints less than a J frame. .380 is not my cup of tea, but then I'm fond of .44 Special on the waist.

Always use a pocket holster, if only for safety. I stuff a small rag into the pocket to break up the outline. I have noticed that the area near the rear sights, the line of the slide from sights to muzzle and the bottom back of the grip, together, make it look like a gun. Even just a bump from the sights and bottom of grip can make it look like a gun. Adjust the rag until everything looks like a lump.

This quesion was something that I was pondering for myself about 1 1/2 ago. Luckily the fellow that owns one of our local gunshops is a friend of mine so he got on the phone and found a new PM9 from his supplier for me to look at and maybe purchase. He also had my name on an LCP. I must say that I really liked the little Kahr, as I cant imagine a 9mm being much smaller or lighter. But when I pocketed both weapons it was like night and day. There is absolutely no comparison as far as pocket carry goes when looking at an LCP and a PM9. While the Kahr is small it is still heavy for the pocket. Or at least it was for mine. It printed much more than the LCP also. In the right pocket holster there is no way anyone can tell that you have a pistol in your pocket with the LCP. I went to the shop that day wanting to buy the Kahr but I came home with the LCP simply because I was looking for a "pocket" pistol and the LCP is much more of a "Pocket" pistol. Honestly it feels like a thick wallet in my pocket and that is it. Not downing the Kahr though. It was a fine little pistol, it just didnt fit the need I was looking to fill. If you are "really" looking for a pocket pistol then I would go with the LCP or the Kel-tec P-3AT. I dont think you would be disappointed.

It's bigger that it's 380 counterparts but as long as you wear loose pants and put it in a holster it is very pocketable. I even Pocket my PM45.

Me too! Works good in casual slacks and shorts that I generally wear anyway. Not so good in tight fitting clothes. The small polymer .380s will definitely conceal better in tight confines and weigh down the pocket less. I was used to toting a PPK/s, so I just traded calibers for the same weight and size by moving to the PM45.

I pocket carry an MK40 without any problem. That's with 36" to 38" waist jeans, so if you're really skinny, you may not be able to get a PM9 to fit.

The Kahr MK/PM guns are about the same size as the Walther PPK (though much shorter from muzzle to butt), which was the "pocket .380" of yesteryear.

It is a marginal pocket carry and works in some slacks but rather obvious in some.

I have a PM 9 and I find 16+ ounces a bit heavy for pocket carry, but that's just me.

Adjust the rag until everything looks like a lump.

That's why J Frames are great pocket carries. M&P 340 5 rounds of .357 Magnum 13 ounces empty, and lumps come free.


Or a even a 340PD. Lighter yet.


PM9 and Lumpy .357 Magnum. The M&P is 20% lighter, easier to conceal, more powerful, but down by two-three rounds.
They both fit a DeSantis Nemesis nicely, I prefer the Mika Roundcut for the J Frame.

PM9 is my constant companion

in my right fron pocket. I carry The PM9 in a DeSantis Nemisis holster. Works fine in Jeans but better in Khakis or shorts. I also have a Khar P380 and a S&W 340PD that I pocket carry all depends on where I am headed and what I am wearing. They all work fine for me. However, I shoot the PM9 and the P380 more accurately than I do the 340PD, which has the most brutal recoil of any gun I own.

Let's compare the PM9 to a j-frame and the LCP...

1. The LCP...truly pocketable.
2. J-frame is my limit in pocket carry. It looks like a big lump....but still workable.
3. The PM9 due to its flat shape actually prints "gun" more so than the j-frame. It is the least pocketable out of the three.

I pocket carry mine every day. In fact, I've misplaced my IWB holster for it, and don't miss it a bit. The PM9 is 100% pocketable; at least in size 36" waist jeans/shorts/khakis/etc.

If you wear your jeans really tight, then maybe pocket carry isn't for you. I carry mine in the front pocket of all my pants, jeans, dockers, shorts, whatever.

Maybe not for everyone, but it's the one pistol I can always easily carry. And it's a 9mm too.

I think pocket carry of the pm9 may work for me. I know it won't conceal as well as my lcp but I don't wear skinny jeans after all. I tend to wear jeans and khakis with generous front pocket space, mainly because I can't even fit my hand in some of those little tiny girly pockets. I don't have to worry too much about a little printing, since MS is an open carry state. I just want out of the .380 business, I hardly get to shoot the thing. I can hardly find ammo and when I do it's more than .45! That's just getting old.

I really do appreciate the merits of pocket carry. To me it is the most convenient and comfortable way to carry. Sometimes I have to put my gun on in my car, so putting it in my pocket (with pocket holster of course) is MUCH more convenient than trying to shove a gun IWB while sitting down and trying not to be too obvious about it in the parking lot. There is also the ability to get your hand on the gun without being too obvious as well.

I pocket carry my PM9 quite regularly in a Hedley pocket holster, which will fit in a standard jean pocket. The size of a PM9 is IMO th largest size one could pocket carry.
