Most places I go to are highly recommended from my various forum brethren. But sometimes I just need something a little esoteric, like, say, a grip screw for a high standard Sport King. For these you have to go somewhere a little outside your comfort zone sometimes.

So I am curious if making that sort of internet order other people nervous? Is there any alternative for rare parts?

Im always nervous till i receive my item even from here what keep someone from taking your money and dissapearing ATLEAST WITH PAYPAL OR CC THE RECOURSE IS SLIGHTLY EASIER

Yes, I try very hard to buy only from businesses that I am familiar with such as Natchez, Brownells, Cylinder and Slide etc.
The reason is that I unknowingly bought stolen property over the net. Having a LEO come knocking at your door was a definite shock and a bummer. I was not in trouble but I lost my money.

Stick with the big guys and you'll have no problems (normally). Brownell's, Numerich, MidwayUSA, Sportsman's Guide, etc. Any company can hit a glitch once in a while, though.

Always, working offshore makes it hard to be home when the items arrive, and I don't what my gun parts/ammo laying around on my porch for too long.

I am not worried in the least. Most things are small priced/the seller has a zillion good feed backs, that a problem is unlikely but there is always the chance of a problem. So far I am batting 100% however. Pictures help big time and lack of them when the seller is asked to produce and refuses should set off alarms IMHO.

I always prefer to personally handle and inspect the merchandise before I buy. Unfortunately, I do 80% of my shopping at Amazon!

Doesn't bother me at all. Never had a problem with any gun related company.

The only time I've been screwed on an online order was by a computer company in NY City who sent the wrong item and then lied about not receiving it when I mailed it back.

Parts , not so much, but buying guns, I have to see the gun first not in a store , the exact one I am bringing home. It can be the easiest or most nerve wracking experience. You don't know what you have until you open the box. If it's scratched or bent or some other shipping problem or someone who just had no scruples and just sent out a defective product assuming the purchaser would let it slide. I won't subjct myself to that nonsense.

Buying gun parts online doesn't make me nervous at all... It makes me anxious... Anxious for my new parts to get here so I can put them on my guns!

Why would Brownells.com make you nervous? Best place for piece parts for old High Standards (and a lot of other manufacturers) I have ever shopped.

An observation from many years of life:

Honest people think everyone is honest, and act accordingly.

It is like people that have a problem with some some people they think should not own guns...any person that says guns should be banned because they cause mayhem? Well, it is obvious (to me) they probably should not own guns if they cannot trust themselves with them.

People who own and handle firearms responsibily, generally feel other people will do as they do and there should be no restrictions, until a person demonstrates otherwise.

Remember, our law works on the idea: you are inocent untill proven guilty.

No problem at all, never have had a problem. I order from U.S. businesses, Foreign businesses, E-Bay both domestic and foreign, Europe and Middle and Far East. I use M/O, C/C and PayPal.

Only thing is the wait at times for product to clear U.S. Customs.

Not at all! Living where I live, I'd be dead in the water without ordering stuff like that off the internet.

Where exactly do you think you're going to find something so rare you'd need it? Speaking from at least my own esoteric perspective, with lots of firearms that aren't exactly common even when they were new and in production, I'll take the promise of parts over nothing any day of the week.

Besides, a minty in-the-grease Ross 1905 rifle missing the bolt for $55, when you know there's an online dealer with one listed for sale for $65, is reason enough to take the "gamble".

And I've won every time, so maybe I'm biased.

No worry at all. I order things almost weekly, often daily, from people I don't know and have never met and probably will never meet. Have I ever had a problem? Yes once, but in the larger scheme of things, that's nothing. I've had more problems buying things from places like Macy's and Best Buy, and finding out a small part is missing from the box. Do you know they want the whole wide screen TV returned because a simple mounting screw is missing?

What part of it is making you nervous? Gun parts - except receivers/frames - are as innocuous as buying a TV remote over the internet. I've been buying stuff from any number of sources for years (my ebay feedback profile goes back to 1997 - and I was purchasing from other places even earlier), and I've had very few problems.

No. Are you worried about the Feds putting you on a "list"? I figure I am already on a whole bunch of lists. If you are worried about not getting what you order use a credit card. They have dispute resolution.

I've bought from established parts dealers for years with no problems. Two questions: Do they have a I-800 number and do they take American Express, the only card with any real reputation for handling complaints. As far as lists are concerned, the Feds have only so much money to waste and those fast and furious guns cost lots.

Yes I get nervous. What makes me more nervous is when I plant my name on a registration for an F-Class competition. I know if I were a Secret Service agent I would want to know who the small percentage out there is, who can hit a target at a thousand yards. I'd say 1 in 10-20,000 citizens compete in long range rifle comp. I'm guessing on the figures. I'd be willing to bet there's a list of shooters somewhere deep in the pentagon.

I was ordering stuff from catalogs long before they invented the internet. I got my first gun back when Sears could still deliver them to the door. Never had a problem with anything.

I actually prefer ordering stuff like that (grips, gun parts) over the internet.
