Does open carrying long guns really help persuade public opinions in a good way?

The position of Open Carry Texas has been mischaracterized again in this thread.

It may be more useful to explain that OCT: Tarrant County and Open Carry Tarrant County are not the same organizations despite having similar names and ostensibly, goals.

OCT: Tarrant County opposes the annoying jerkwad behavior that Open Carry Tarrant County routinely engages in.

I will point out again, OCT's stance on long arms in private businesses.

You failed to mention that this "stance" only came about after months of protests and months of pissing off private business owners and corporate America. You failed to mention the OCT protests prior to this "revised" statement where partially responsible for the creation of MDA and their alliance with Bloomberg.

Here is the text you left out.

Looking back, it has become clear that there is one area in which we have gotten the most resistance and suffered the largest setbacks: open carry of long arms into private businesses. This is not a new phenomenon. Early on, because of our efforts, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) sent a message to all TABC licensees warning them about allowing our members to open carry into their businesses. This resulted in places like Smashburger asking us to leave our guns at home. Since then, Starbucks, Wendy’s, Jack In The Box, Applebees and most recently, Chipotle have come out asking we not carry our firearms into their establishments.

It is also my understanding that Open Carry Tarrant County and Kory Watkins were indeed a part of OCT. The above statement upset many OCT members especially Kory Watkins, as a result they separated and became Open Carry Tarrant County and continued on with OCT original plan.
