Does this sound like a shady gunbroker deal?

Matt, that was exactly what I was thinking. The closest USPS store is on the other side of town for me, and it took 10 minutes to find the place, 30 minutes to wait in line and do everything, and 10 minutes to drive back home, so it depends on how impatient you are and other things.

I don't see how a money order could be as secure as a credit card, like you said, you can dispute it if someone doesn't send your item with a credit card...the money order is as good as cash.

I can understand (I did not say agree with, but understand) why PayPal and eBay are anti-gun. Suppose there is another VA Tech or Arizona shooting where the buyer buys the “bullet tips” from eBay. That is if they still permitted “bullet tips” to be sold as they did before VA Tech. Victims’ families would start naming in their civil suit the eBay seller, eBay, how the money was transferred (i.e. PayPal) and anyone else involved. The seller most likely does not have much to go after, but eBay & PayPal… now there is some serious money. They should have known better (so says the suit).

In the case of using a USPS Money Order, the Post Office as far as I know is extremely difficult to sue as the Federal Government needs to permit itself to be sued. That’s not likely. Even with cash, where the good old U. S. A. backs the currency, they are not responsible for what one buys with it.

the whole idea that if someone takes your mail order and does not send the good is "mail fraud" is a bunch of bunk. They dont quite care about it. When someone did that to me (in the trading post no less), not a soul from USPS or any law enforement cared. They all said to take him to small claims court. There is no real recourse. You have to take that into account when doing these transactions... i learned the hard way.

And gun shops that accept credit cards will charge an extra 3% to pay for the fee.
Which is a breech of their merchant account agreement, and can cause them to lose the ability to accept credit cards in the future.
What awgrizzly meant to say is that these gun shops offer a 3% discount if one pays with cash.

I don't understand the liberals thinking behind guns being evil. If guns are evil, then so are other tools like chainsaws, kitchen knives, and baseball bats.

Its troubling that they can't differentiate the crowd behind crimes and murders, and the law-abiding citizens.

And that's ridiculous that UPS wouldn't deliver it. I have my ammo shipped to the Cabela's 2 miles away from me :D but I only buy when its on sale, which is usually a good deal since I don't pay shipping.

Just a heads up, Cabela's sale for .223 rem, Remington manufactured 55 grain FMJ ammo is starting tomorrow, $6.49 a box, I am going in early tomorrow to make sure I get some.
like the old internet meme says: 'if guns kill people, pencils misspell words'. i've never had any problems with ups delivering ammo, infact they never even want a signature, just drop it at the door.

Yeah some places don't care about signitures or id's, but if something terrible went down, like a minor buying ammo and not being carded, and then he goes on a killing spree, then there's a lot of liability and tragedy. But on the other hand, if a kid really wanted to obtain a gun, and ammo, its only a question of how much money he has too.

This felon I used to work with told me he got a fully-automatic AK-47 of the streets for $100 a few years ago, he told me it was legal, but I know that's B.S. cause you have to go through the ATF or NFA I think.

Well anyway, the FFL was faxed and the money order was sent on wednesday, so next friday will be the moment of truth. I feel really confident now, but at least I have some idea of what to do if I don't get my gun. File a claim with gunbroker, spam his cell phone and maybe fax machine, negative rating, and contact my several law enforcement buddies

There used to be full auto guns floating around out there on the street for very cheap prices. They were highly illegal though. I had the opportunity to buy a full auto mac 10 back in the 80s for a couple hundred bucks...from a teenager no less. Obviously I passed.
