Does your home defense gun have a silencer?

My take is ; IF one has to USE their home defense gun ,don't think the neighbors really give a rats azz whether it's toned down or not !.

IF there was a situation I do believe I'd want to HEAR it ASAP , on the outside chance troubled crossed property lines

Yes, I have one on a pistol that I’d use to fight to the sbr with one. I’m all for preservation of my hearing and not irritating the neighbors.

The one time that I used a firearm indoors for home defense I didn't really notice the noise.

I know two people who have fired a gun inside their house at an intruder, one .38 Special, the other an AR-15 and both report never hearing the gun go off!

No, for many reasons, not the least of which is staying out of a government database.
If you were born in, live in, search the internet in, whatever in this country, I imagine you're in a database. Remember a few years back when Harris got busted for X-raying into random New Yorkers homes or whatever? No one wanted that info to get out haha. We're all living in the database already. Bummer.

Not really sure what 2014 or that has-to-do with what I posted. I'm very aware of the Salvo 12 and the Silentium both ... but neither are Anton Chigurh quiet .... which was the point of my tongue-in-cheek comment about suppressing a 12 ga pump.

Welcome to "see and hear the difference?"

My Thunder Chicken is Hollywood quiet in 300 BLK with subsonics.

They don't make a shotgun suppressor that is Hollywood quiet.

Never will use one for HD. Increases the OAL of the firearm in a confined space. When “amped up” you will never hear the shot. Find the combo that you can handle for HD/SD (CQC) with confidence. Practice.

No way would I use one for home defense. I want my neighbors to know what is going on so maybe they can call the police just in case I'm not as good at shooting that invader than has is.
If I get a little hearing problem from a blast from my own gun, it would be a small price to pay for being alive.

So Mr. Mystery, explain.

Crickets.

Yeah, beginning to notice this guy starts a lot of threads with a question -- while not answering anyone else's questions, yet never seems to offer forth any information about what actual experience he has, indicates any preferences of his own, or articulates any reasons (apart from facetiousness or attempts at pithy remarks) for the questions he asks. What this looks like to me is someone simply trying to stir the pot, generate controversy or elicit stupid responses. Is there an agenda here? No, I did not use the T-word.
