Biker, he knew the law. And ignorance wouldn't have been a defense. He took the trouble to go to Mexico to commit a felony. The fact that he was doing it for money doesn't excuse it. Neither does "But he was a bad guy". That's what we have a State Department and trans-national law enforcement cooperation for. He had no right. He was completely outside his legal authority. And he jumped bail to avoid standing trial for his crimes.

Defending him is exactly the same as defending foreign criminals who come to America to kidnap or kill people over here for sentences handed down in other countries.

I am really surprised at the reception yall are giving this...

I read on the first page "He is going to be real popular in the Mexican prison with all those ribbons and bows in his hair"

And

"I hope he likes Mexican food because he is going to be there for a long time"

I really cant believe that yall are all gung ho to ship off an ANY American to another country for committing a "crime" which isn’t a crime here.

Not to mention he did something which all the people I know would love to do, he went down to Mexico and grabbed a RAPIST kicked his ass and brought him back to stand trial.

I give him a standing ovation just for that irregardless of how I feel about him personally.

I hope his lawyers bend the Mexicans over a barrel.

WOW

Who would have seen something like this coming.I think we have too many stupid policies and laws and too afraid of pissing off someone if we dont do the right thing ,but everyone else(mex.,irak, iran, all the stans, syria and anyone else in the world )is free to do as they please because they know that the UNITED STATES will not do anything and if we do then we will be there to pick up the pieces and make things better for them than it was in the first place.I think we need a lot less gov. and a lot more COMMON SENSE when it comes to s#!* like this:banghead: :fire: :cuss: it makes me wanna scream aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhggggggggggggg!!

Chapman should never be handed over to those corrupt mexicans. Screw their laws, they do ours. Apparently alot of people don't know the types and numbers of criminals that Mexico gives haven to, and even innocent U.S. citizens who get beaten, jailed, extorted, and in some cases, killed by the bigoted police. I hope Chapman gets some good lawyers and clears this b.s. arrest.

rusty maggot:

So what if your friend is reformed? If he broke the law and is now reformed should he not be punished?

In 1977 Duane Chapman was sentenced to 5 years in prison for murder. Why is he walking the streets? What about Tookie? Tookie was also convicted of murder. Why is it everyone wanted him to fry while Duane Chapman is free to walk the streets?

He should be in jail and serving out a sentence for his crimes.

In both cases the will of the Jury, the basis of our legal system, was complied with.

It's certainly not YOUR place or MINE to argue with what a jury decided, so your point goes nowhere. What these 2 cases have to do with each other is beyond me.

So far, we have one vote from San Diego for "the Mexicans will hand over non-Mexican fugitives with no trouble" and a bunch for "Luster was paying to hide out in Mexico". The Mexicans (FWIW) are saying that they would have handed over Luster with no trouble if Dog had shown the respect of going through channels instead of trying to cowboy it. I know the Mexicans are sensitive about respect for their independence.

I want to know from someone who's actually been there. Do we have any Southwestern lawmen (or lawwomen) with actual experience in getting fugitives back from Mexico who want to weigh in?

he finished

his sentence if that bothers some oh well. i think some folks live in the narrow box outa fear and are threatened by those larger than that

Question?

If Mexico will not extradite to the USA because we have the death penalty,
why should USA extradite to a country with corrupt police and human
rights violations?

Last time it took General John Persing and an army to invade Mexico. Even then the Mexican government would not help, and the US Army had to come back without their man.

I say this "Dog" guy did pretty good to accomplish what Texas Rangers and the US Army couldn't.

In case anyone doesn't know, that fugitive was Pancho Villa.

We have a long standing beef with Mexico over that one, among others.

Talk about harboring a murdering scum bag.......killed 17 business men on a train outside of El Paso, stripped their bodies and went back into Mexico. He's entombed in Mexico City in the "Hall of Illustrious Men".

So send Dog to a Texas jail, we'll wait for the Mexican Army to come get him. Hell, he can stay at my house if I'm guaranteed the Mexican Army will come this way looking for him.

I feel pretty safe, I figure you guys in Laredo and San Antonio will take care of them before they get here.

This whole thing is past ridiculous already, why not go all the way.

I guess this started out "sorta" on topic, referring to the various laws about extradition. Somehow or another the compass got broke or the map got lost, and it's wandering...
