Very sorry to hear this.
It's Christmas time no less.
Help him get a gun and find him a dog.
I'll chip in some $$ to help out myself.

What kind of @%#hole does such a thing??? And killing a dog??? That's just adding insult to injury. It's also like killing a family member and damn near killing you... what a damn shame

Sorry to hear this happened to your Dad's friend rmodel. I will say a prayer for him. I am also sorry to hear about his dog.
I am glad to hear they got the suspect. Hopefully justice will be served.

suspect has been caught and charged he is a resident of Pooler....

awesome.

i would expect many charges, and possibly life sentence (wishful thinking)

what charges would the guy face?

attempted 1st degree murder?

Guys, everyone knows how ruthless and viciously a pug will run around you constantly for hours until it passes out from exhaustion, the suspect obviously did not want to be followed home by small children wanting to pet it.

Anybody who would kill a pug is beneath human.

It just dawned on me after reading those very forceful (and non THR) comments that I quoted, that if this discussion were about the numerous stories of COPS walking into people's yards for no legal reason, and killing people's animals (sometimes followed also by committing unwarranted home invasions and theft of a person's property), the thread would be closed. Nice equality in our public discourse. Bash the daylights (deservedly) out of THIS scumbag, but look the other way when we see our employees do it several times a year via the news.

An airedale at full charge is not a pug. I've seen them at schutzhund and they can be very fierce. Whether the deputy was justified I can't say, but there's never justification for killing a pug. A pug may have courage, but it's a threat to nobody.

What are the preparations for a legally blind guy who lives at home? I will be honest here, I don't know of many self defense, gun, or other such schools that cater to self defense for the blind or who have even created such a program.

Of course, maybe the dog was part of the guy's home defense program, the dog acting on behalf of his missing sight to help alert him to intruders. So maybe he had taken some time to consider the option and the dog was part of his preparation and yet he was still overwhelmed - maybe.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your dad's friend. Makes me sick to think of the scum on this planet and what they do to others. I would be happy to help in any way I can.

Apples and oranges. I owned a Pug for quite a while, and while he was protective of us and the kids, he couldn't have bitten an ankle to save his life.

Chinese Pugs are one of the oldest breeds, having been developed as pets for the Chinese nobility. AFAIK, they have no utility as hunting dogs or protective dogs, other than their annoying bark.

adopt-a-pet.com has a ton of pugs everywhere in the US. Pure bred, adults puppies and seniors. FREE, give them a try
