OK, so I've sworn off Remington Thunderbolt ammo for the last time! I have never liked it that much, but have been lured back by $1.50/box ammo sales now and then. :banghead: Well, this last batch I got is the most inconsistent I have experienced (and that is saying something!)
I was plinking with my Ruger 22/45 in between testing various hand loads at the range yesterday and had a darn-near squib round. I shot the round, heard no report and could see the bullet as it went to the target, then bounced off. The bullets path had a visible arc in just 15yd, like a weak airsoft pistol or something. Tried to find the bullet, but it was lost in the sand somewhere... The empty case was still in the chamber with the hammer down. In a rifle, I'm pretty sure that this would have been a squib.
In addition to this near-dud round, I had 1-2 rounds in every mag with a noticably weak report or a dud. Just very, very sad. For the slight extra cost, I really am sticking to CCI Blazers now that have never given me a single weak round or dud!
