Don't use your gun as a drill

Hmm....I can't get a hole here. I guess that, rather than switch spots, I'll SHOOT a hole into the area!

According to sheriff's department spokesman Maj. Robert Hills, Ronald Long fired a shot from the inside of their home after several unsuccessful efforts to punch a hole through the exterior wall using other means.
Ronald Long told authorities that he fired a second shot, then called out his wife's name and the names of their two children. When he got no reply, he ran outside and found his wounded wife.

My BS meter is pegged here.

He murdered his wife then cooked up a story as to why it was an "accident"

That's sad... and to top it off, his 22 would not have made a big enough hole for the cable cord. Made a big enough hole to end his wife's life though.

Many, many years ago, I remember reading somewhere (Reader's Digest?) a story sent in by a woman reader. Apparently, she needed a hole drilled in her floor for an additional phone line so she called up the owner/landlord to borrow a drill. He stops by and asks where she wants the hole. She points to the location and then the landlord whips out a .22 and “drills” a hole for her. His only comment was “For things like gas lines, I use a .45”.

When I was a kid a fella from texas moved into the house next door. He wanted to add a flush toilet to his home. He needed to bore a 3" hole through the floor. 5 rounds through the 12 ga. did the job.

Powder residue should make it easy enough to determine if the wife was actually shot through the wall or not. I'm frankly surprised that a .22 had enough energy to kill someone after passing through the drywall, insulation and exterior cladding.

a .22 can do some funny stuff once in a while I think this story is plausible but maybe the box-o-truth needs to give it a test

Hm... As strange as it is, that station is a rather pro- gun one. I remember a story they did on a hunter who hadn't checked what was behind his target, and the bullet hit a girl who was playing outside. Instead of giving the usual, "Guns are bad...mmmkay?" story, they sent one of their reporters out to a local gun store (incidentally, the one I bought my 7.62x39mm Saiga from), had an interview with an employee on gun safety, and had their reporter go into the store's indoor shooting range and demonstrate the proper handling of a firearm with a .22 revolver.

I was stunned, but happy. I doubt they "cooked" this story.

On to the idiot and the woman who he slapped with the sudden and strange affliction called death with...

Normally, I'm not too much for restrictions on firearms, like most people here. This guy is the exception. If he was that stupid with one, I sure as hell wouldn't give him a pistol of my own to use.

That's like that idiot a while ago who couldn't spin the lug nuts on his truck off to change a tire, so he shot one of them with a shotgun to "loosen" it; he ended up catching a bunch of splash in the legs, but at least he only shot himself.

i think Hollywood has a lot to do with unsafe gun handling, unfortunately many people get their gun training from watching movies, and see all kinds of stupid things done with guns, combine stupid people with movie gun training and you have so called accidents ,that are all to easey to avoid,

whats wrong with using your gun as a drill i do it all the time i just make sure my family stays out of the way
