Double star AR

Hey guys i am currently looking to build my wife a AR and also for my daughter. But the other day i found a Double Star on Buds gun shop for $650. That is much cheaper than i can build one. My question is does any one have experiece with Double star and if so what can i expect from it on reliability, finish, and parts. thanks in advance.

Don't know, but most people put building an AR at about $400 - $500 range, have you checked out one of the builder forums?

I have a stripped DS lower. The finish is utilitarian- not bad at all, but not as nice as you would expect on a high-end gun. Everything is in spec. Can't ask for much more.

For your wife/daughter a doublestar is perfect. And the price is great as well.

I haven't shot one yet, but I've held them and they seem like any other AR-15. And for a good price. I think its a perfect range toy.

I heard double star makes good rifles. Never heard anything bad, But nothing first hand.

Had the pleasure of firing several (pretty popular around here because they are made really close) and they were all perfectly reliable and very accurate. I also built a 20 inch varminter one that I really wish I hadn't sold now. I think it's a rather good choice for what you're wanting to do.

I have a DS lower with a J&T upper (same company, but they use J&T brand for components and DoubleStar for lowers or complete rifles). I had to buy them separately because I was putting together a California-legal rifle and had some hoops to jump through.

Anyway, it's a great gun. Internal finish of the upper is shiny without tool marks, assembly is flawless, function is great, accuracy as well. $650 is a good deal IMHO.

I have a stripped Double Star lower and it has good fit and finish.

I have a double star 6.5 grendel. I will say that I believe that Double Star is in between RRA and DPMS. Almost as good as RRA but better than DPMS.

I have a DoubleStar lower that I built myself and an upper that they built for me. Accuracy is great and no problems after several years, 1K rounds. They are very popular around here with the builders since we are so close.

I have 2 Doublestar/JT rifles that I built and they shoot just as good as my Stag that I also built. I would not be afraid of getting one...
