I am thinking about buying a black rifle, but have never owned one before. Under consideration is a Double Star and an S&W M&P 15. I have a lot of experience with S&W handguns, so I feel pretty good about their products. But I really don't know anything about Double Star rifles. Any thoughts?

I just built my first AR using a double star lower frame and it was a top quality choice. the tolerances were tight and the finish very well done. i would reccomend them wholeheartedly

Double Star stuff is getting great reviews... it was one of my choices... but the DPMS deal came along... also worth a look at if the Superior Arms lowers...

Not sure if you're considering building one, but see here...

I have a Double Star lower under a Del-ton Midlength upper and totally satisfied with both. I heard Double Star is a sister company with J&T Dist and both seem to have a great reputation.

If you want an AR-15, I'd recommend getting a lower receiver of your choice and purchasing a rifle kit. Once you get the upper, you just basically snap the gun together and you have yourself a working rifle. Depending on the lower receiver that you buy, you may have to assemble the trigger group but that's easy from what I have read.

I plan on doing this in the upcoming months before the election.

I'll be buying a stripped lower from: www.colemantyler.com
and a rifle kit from: www.del-ton.com

+1 on Doublestar
+1 on Del-Ton

Bought both for my first AR build. Put it together last Thursday night.....shoots great and it took me maybe an hour to built my first AR-15

Same here...I topped the Double star lower with a del-ton 20" custom upper and i love it. My carbine upper will probably be from them too

Doublestar has a great reputation, reliable and some of the lowest prices on quality products.

I also have a double star lower which I used for my del-ton mid length kit build. It looks great and runs great. :D Mark
