Hello,
Rock River Arms has a special on for an AR for 995 with some extra goodies but I have been thinking about getting a Doublestar AR for around 660. The RRA is a good price for that beast but still heck of a price difference. Anyone got a doublestar AR? All the reviews on budsgunshop are very positive. Please chime in!

I had a Doublestar. The only reason I don't anymore is I had to find someway to fund my Garand. I will tell you that the fit and finish was nice, though I did have a few FTE; personally I think that this was due to the o-ring around the extractor spring. I was going to fiddle with it to see, but the Garand bug had bit me hard.

I have a double star in 6.5 grendel and it is as reliable as my RRA midlength in .223. It did require some tightening of the gas block though and I broke an ejector with a hot load from the 6.5 grendel. Okay so I guess I can't say it is as realiable as my RRA but I have only put soft loads through my RRA and not tested its strength and durability like I have with my 6.5.

I have 2 of them and they are solid rifles. I have put 1000's through each and just like any AR, If you run them wet, they run.

Maybe not what you want to hear but I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Go with the lower priced brand that has the features you want, or flip a coin.
The next step up, and a great value in a no compromise rifle, BCM.

For the WIN, I just received my upper from Bravo yesterday. Just need a set of midlength hand guards and a Aimpoint.

Just remember, with an AR the rifle is the cheap part. It's all the extras and accessories that will burn up the green. So if the RRA has some extras you want anyway it might be the way to go.

Good ammo is Hornady v-max, any of the Black Hills stuff, Remington varmit, hand loads using V-max or dog town bullets. Wolf and lake City not included, they go bang but not very accurate.

bought my father in law a buds doublestar. he's only run monarch steel cases through it and has been very pleased. only problen I ever saw it experience was on the first mag he put 31 bullets in and the last one did not feed. manually cycling the sction chambered and fired the round and the problem did not repeat itself. (he also didn't put 31 in any more.)

the finish on the upper and lowers matched well but was kind of glossy. the best picture I have of it also has my sister in law in it so it's not exactly a picture of the gun per se.
