Douglas County, CO CCW Renewal Wait Time

I submitted my CCW permit renewal almost two months ago, but still haven't heard back from the Douglas County Sheriff's Dept. I knew they were a bit swamped with renewals, but didn't quite expect it to take this long. Anyone else experiencing a similar wait?

There is a member here by the username of heavyshooter. I know he isn't in Douglas, but I recall his wait taking a good while like you are experiencing.

Mine was quick.

I submitted 10 days ago on the western slope in CO and they told me it would be 2 months. I mailed to UT same day, we'll see who is fastest.

I did Park county before mine expired, about 30 days early.
I got mine back about a day before my old permit expired.
I think the trick is to renew early if they will let you.

CoRoMo recalled the story perfectly. I am still waiting. I am in Arapahoe County and we had to apply for CCW by appointment. I had to wait 3 months for the appointment date. When we showed up for the appoinment the gentleman promised me that it will be 80-90 days before the CBI reviews my paperwork. That is a total of 6 months before the permit arrives. I had to wait for both the County and the State. I am expecting a call some time in late July or early August.

My wife just informed me today that the Sheriff's Office called on Thursday and said my renewal is ready to pick up, but she forgot to tell me!

Good thing, because my old one expired May 25th.

I live in Douglas Co. (Parker), got my CWP in 2007. They said it would take 3 weeks, and it took 3 weeks to the day. This was before anybody'd ever heard of Barack Obama though. Our sheriff is very gun friendly, I believe, but I'm sure they've been swamped with apps. all over the state.

I'm in Arapahoe county. I have to renew mine next year. They told me to apply for the renewal about 90 days before the expiration date. With all the new CCP activity I'll probably call them 180 days before renewal just to see what's happening.

I live in douglas County, Colorado and found the renewal process very easy. THey mailed a notice saying my CCW was about to expire. Took about 3 weeks as I recall. That was last year, though.

I live in Central Oregon, we have to go to the County Sherifs Office and they renew them on the spot. We cannot do our renewals by mail.

I know this sounds like a broken record since I've mentioned it several times, but these war stories are exactly why all us permittees should have screamed and hollered about the Legislature denying recognition to NON-resident out of state permitees.

I had wanted to get a Utah non-resident permit just in case there was a glitch in the renewal process, or I lost my wallet, or something. I would have been able to carry in CO on the Utah permit in the interim.

No point to it now, though. Live with our new Legislature, guys and gals.

And our Governor, who vetoed HB 1180*, is up for re-election this year.

You and the rest of the state for any number of reasons. He's proven to be even more worthless and damaging than I suspected.

I'm in Elbert County, they took about 8 weeks the first time around. I'll submit for renewal 3 months ahead of expiration.

Three weeks ago....

...Adams County was quoting 80-90 days for renewal. They also limit the "appointment" times to 35 people, as if they are flooded by applicants. There were only 4-5 people applying the Friday afternoon I went.

I suspect it's maybe more applicants, but still the wish to drag the approval out as long as possible.

Yea --I've called Ritters office a few times in the last couple months especially over HB 1180. I let his office know what I thought of his veto of that bill too.
Seems like a lot of folks are not too happy with this dude.
Hopefully we can get him out of there come election time

Got mine in June of last year in El Paso county and had to wait two months for the appointment and then another 30 days or so to get my card. The very nice lady that does them down here said it was only June and the County had already had over 1500 applicants. But that was last year before the election.
