Well, my niece is getting her carry permit, and I promised her a pistol when she got out on her own, and got to a decent point in her life.

Well, yesterday was that day. She and her husband bought 10 acres and she started a dog kennel business. They had us out for the 4th. As usual, I brought some firearms along. her favorite and the one she ended up shooting best was my blued Mk III hi power. Sad to see it go, but it's going to a good home.

I haven't shot it in years myself, as I regularly use my 2 tone practical, but now that that space is empty...I find I think I need to get another one.

I'm pretty sure you are my uncle! I'll send my FFL info for shipping lol!
Seriously, good on you...what a great thing you did. Now she needs a daily carry, as I'm sure this will soon become a treasured possession...that she will cherish. Well done sir.

My doc told me I needed to shoot lesser recoiling rifles & shotguns...I finally sold my all-time favoritest rifle, a .358 NM...THAT was bittersweet, but I realized that while I could no longer shoot & enjoy it, as long as it was in my safe, no one else could either.

IMNTBHO, you should not be bittersweet since you hadn't shot it (as opposed to couldn't shoot it) in many years, it was given to a loved one who loves it, and it remains in the family, so to speak.

Good for you! My Hi-Power is one of my favorites and I would never sell or trade it but I certainly can see me gifting it some day to one of my kids.

I bet that made her day!

I've got guns too I haven't shot in years that I wouldn't want to part with so I hear ya. But now you get to go on "the hunt" again for another one! Which is half the fun! :D

Another Hi-Power would be good but you know something like a CZ P01 might make for a nice replacement as well.

Forgot to add, we were firing the loads I tailored for it. Once she gets to buying factory ammo with the loss of accuracy therein- I expect she'll be swinging by to load some for it as well!

Well done Sir. Truly a selfless act of generosity and conviction. I'm sure she will treasure that pistol and you for the rest of her life.

Fella's;

I peeked in at one of the on-line sites, GunBroker or GunsAmerica, don't remember which t'other day. In any case, among all the things I looked at, the Browning Hi-Power was one of 'em. I clearly remember my jaw dropping at the asking prices on 'em! All I can say, is she better appreciate what you gave her, 'cause it wasn't no second-rate-hand-me-down.

Good on ya.

Very nice of you to provide the Hipower and the shooting experience to your niece. I almost had the same situation but my son decided he would rather have a Colt commando 4 inch given to me by my Dad when I got out of the army 40 odd years ago. The Colt is a great gun with a lot of history, but I use the Hipower more so... Beside I can always go out to the farm and shoot the Colt when ever I want.

Very kind of you, anothernewb. Hopefully she and the husband appreciate it. The Hi Power is best appreciated once one has familiarity with other guns, almost all of which fall short when compared to the Hi Power. :)

My son "borrowed" my M&P 9C two years ago and my daughter liked my M&P 9 full size so much that she took it with her when she moved to Texas. Kids are expensive even when they are adults.

I had a great surprise on Saturday when a good friend from Washington sent me one of his HiPowers. It is loaded and in a holster to accompany me on my daily excursions into the woods in search of hogs. I have another one that is a 1935 issue tangent sight model that I shoot about once a year....and he gave it to me also....some years back.
Good friends are few and far between...
