How does this gun fare as a main battle rifle? I haven't been looking into it for too long, but how available are the magazines? Do only DPMS mags work in the rifle, or could you use ar-10 mags?

DPMS LR-308 would work fine as MBR (I think) for very obvious reasons. It's a heavier copy of the The M16 & M4 and the civilian version AR-15 witch is serving us now. It's also the original chambering of the Armalite in 308 Win or 7.62x51mm

My only concern would be magazines. Factory mags are, if I remember the article in SGN, plastic, unreliable, and not particularly nifty. They are also not cheap. In a MBR those are serious flaws. Unless there is a better mag that is compatible, more common, and cheaper I'd really think about that one. M1A's are more reliably fed and at least as accurate. FN-FAL's are less expensive (Enterprise Arms) and both reliably and cheaply magazined, and are serviceably accurate if not match accurate.

NO! They dropped the plastic mags a while ago and C-Products sells new Stainless Steel 19rnd mags for $22ea hardly a deal breaker!

Magpul was showing off some E-Mags at the SHOT show this year for AR-10's, as well.

Kinda depends on what kind of battle you plan to get into, but yeah, sure, it's a proven system. I've recently acquired a DPMS LR260-L in .260 Rem, and it's already going to be, I've decided my #1 all-purpose go-to gun for both self-defense and hunting.

What are the approximate price ranges for these? I've been looking at some online auctions, and they seem grossly inflated. I know rifles of all types are hard to get right now, but sheesh.

$1500.00

I saw an AP4 go for over 2K during the hype.

My LGS has some in the $1500 range.

I think you could have gotten them for around $1200 before Nov.

They have been back ordered since before the election.

Paid $1,286 for mine with the Quad Rail upgrade from local store during the craize. Probably the lightest semi auto 308 (MBR) at only 8.5lbs empty.

Two words: knights armament

Btw c-prod sucks

The emags I saw were for 223. Did they have 308 mags?? Maybe my memory is failing me

BTW C-Products mags work fine in my AR-15's and my 308.

Knights Armament = too much $ and good luck getting one. No thanks I'm happy with my DPMS and C- Products Mags.

Suggested Retail=$995 Good luck with that though. Lucked into one a couple weeks ago at my local dealer. Should have bought both at $995 and sold one to pay for dressin her up :banghead: Fantastic gun
