I think there is nothing cooler than hearing a few hundred, or thousand, pounds of thrust push a warhead off into the distance at speeds well over mach, then destroy a target with a shaped charge of bound explosives. Yep, pretty much nothing cooler than that. My vote here goes out to the rocket launcher!

My dream gun would be a PPSh-41 made to American manufacturing standards chambered in a 9x23mm Winchester (with an SMG loading hopefully sending a 125-ish grain bullet somewhere in the vicinity of 1700 f/s... you said it was a dream gun!).
Others that hit the spot are a G3-type weapon with that silly charging handle moved to somewhere appropriate (maybe an FAL-style handle?) and chambered in a rimless 20 gauge, a Krinkov-type AK with a 12" barrel chambered in .500 S&W and, to prove I'm not completely obsessed with close combat, an M14 in .276 Pedersen* (basically what the Garand was supposed to be).
Sorry, I'm rather specific.
*loaded to modern standards, of course... oh, and if I could change the base to the same as a 7.62x39, that would rock.
Oh! I forgot to put my AOW! That would be a 14.5" Mossberg Model 500 modified for magazine use chambered in rimless 20 gauge without the trigger disconnector and using 8-round mags. Maybe that just qualifies as an NFA weapon, though...

PGM .338 is pretty close to it for me.
Hand-held GE minigun a la T2 Judgement day would be the other one, but I don't even know if that exists.
HK GMG would be an amazing gun to have as well...

How made up are we talking here? Like, outlandish made up or feasible but does not actually exist made up?
Because I understand the whole "please don't tell me your dream gun is one that never runs out of bullets and always is a one-shot-stop" thing, but that's completely different from "I wish Ruger made a Super Redhawk in .500 S&W".
I would also like to say that asking "what's your dream gun" and then telling us it must actually exist is a pretty good way to get people to find you a dull and mold-encouraging individual.

I picked 'launcher" as nothin' says "git off'n ma land, rev'nuer!" quite like shoulder fired rockets.Also good for keepin' the king of Egland outta your face.
Oh, and I'll bet RPG's, Stingers, LAW's, etc are lots of fun at the range too.

Mine would be a integrally suppressed De-Lisle Carbine. There is video on YouTube of one of these rifles and it is crazy how quiet it is.
