Lock up the car. Leave the flashers on. Leave the car.

Depending on how long you will need to leave the car this is not always a good idea to leave the flashers on. You could come back and have a dead battery as well as what ever stopped your car.

Do the univeral car trouble signal of a white flag/bag/stuff shut into the driver side door instead.
