I use Gunslick foam. Does pretty good but sometimes I get stubborn copper and I'll use Hoppes #9 or KG12.

The longer jag was only used one cleaning before I noticed it was dragging. The other jag has been used for a few years and shows much less wear. 20200517_115417.jpg 20200517_115435.jpg

Does anyone not use jags?

I tried a jag that long, and I couldn't find a patch that could cover the whole jag. Ended up with the jag touching the rifling. With an aluminum jag getting embedded with grit, that would be even worse. Maybe there is a secret to using those jags?

Good point.

I guess I'm lucky that the one I used covered it.

They do make rifle and pistol jags and the pistol ones are shorter.

Each of these were wrapped around a 300blk round for 1 minute. The Bore Tech Eliminator is safe to leave in the bore, so yeah, pretty much indicates the winner as far as copper removal. I cant really think of a good test for carbon removal, just personal experience.

With my Mosins, I send a patch with Hoppe's #9 down the bore a few times and leave it over night. When I punch with dry patches the next day it takes out the copper and carbon fouling. It some times takes several dry patches depending on how much ammo went down the pipe, but it works well for me.
