I have a sudden need for a shotgun that is both semi-auto and pump (like the Benelli M3/M4 series) but I dont know of any besides the Benelli's and they run at least 1500 which is out of my price range right now.

So anyone know of another brand of dual semi/pump action shotguns, or somewhere I could get an M3/M4 for under 1000?

The M4 is not dual mode. The M3 is, but I have never seen one for sale.

The SPAS-12 is also semi-pump selectable, and while expensive, they do come up for sale now and again, and parts are....somewhat available. The bad news is that its just as, or more expansive than the Benelli.

the m3's are neat, not alot of accesseries though.they are a lot less finicky when it comes to ammo than the m1/m.2,mine ate everything i put through it.

The M3 is very cool, but kicks hard with the high-powered ammo required to cycle in semi. My FIL bought one a few months ago. I can empty a mag 98% as fast with my mossberg 590 (probably because it weighs more and kicks less).

CMMG has used Benelli M3s for a fairly good price. Nearly every SPAS-12 owner I've talked to own them for collectible/want reasons, not because they are great shotguns.

Thanks for that, that price will do though I'm gonna sit on it a while.

Yeah I just want it for collectible/ fun (?) reasons I dont really plan on using it for anything although that does look good for HD.
If it doesnt jam and can hit clays that'll be decent enough.

The M4 is not dual mode. The M3 is, but I have never seen one for sale.

Sure about that? Then how does one cycle it while using specialty ammo?

No one knows of anyone other than Benelli or Franchi that makes these though?

when feeding an m4 real soft loads you use the charging handle.my m3 cycles aa target no problem.if you get the m3, get the folder.its worth the extra 300 bucks.unless you buy the le trade ins 900 vs 1300 .i try to avoid us le surplus, they actually shoot/train with their weapons.

Is there a reason they got rid of the pumping on the M4? It seems like its a far faster and ergonomic way to move quickly between breaking doors and clearing rooms.

the m4 is a whole new gas system.one of the reasons for its design is to be able to mount all the stuff the military would like without causing malfunctions.m1,m2,m3 are not as reliable when you start adding things, especially on the receiver.the pump feature rarely comes into play, and costs hundreds of dollars more than an m1.i bought my m3 strictly for the stock.
