Hello all.
My Grandfather has a pond that I want to hunt. The problem I have is that the neighbor shares the pond and has rouens. The pond and the property line have a fence and the rouens stay on their side of the fence. No ducks end up on grandpa's side of the fence.

My question is in regards to the regulation regarding domestic ducks and 'baiting.' Since the neighbor has a fence and the pond is divided and the rouens stay on their side, is it still baiting if I shoot geese on grandpa's side?

That is tough question, I would call the local Game Warden, or Department of Game and Fish, or what ever Michigan has, I think every State calls that Dept something different.
I call our County Warden a decent bit, especially during Duck season because the laws are fuzzy and change so much, anyway, he has always been very helpful, even gave me his private number in case I had questions when he wasn't in the office.

Let us know what you find out, I'm very curious as to their answer.

Try this, might not be right but I think it is.

I found out that if the Rouens are not on his side of the pond, it is not a problem. I am not allowed to shoot the ducks on the other side of the fence. I may have a problem because Grandpa's house may be closer than 400 feet to the pond, violating that 400 foot rule. I'll have to get a tape and measure.

A homeowner or his guest isn't bound by the minimum distance rule...You can shoot off the back porch...Or the kitchen window, for that matter.
