My 10-22 has a Shilen barrel and bench rest type forarm that I got from Miday several years ago. I use it on Jack rabbits and ground squirrels. I recently decided to give it a face lift, since it has years and years of use, and was looking pretty hammered. Shoots like a dream, and is a tack driver.
A buddy of mine has been Duracoating stuff, so I tried some. Wow.
Easy to mix, Easy to learn the touch of the Air brush, and a little goes a long way. Since we were using left over paint, I had to make my own patterns, and had to experiment a bit with the material.
We ended up using masking tape (whoda thunk?), which we cut on a masonite board, then lifted, and applied. You could use either the cut-outs or the part cut FROM.
We stripped all oils from metal, wood, scope, everything, then re-assembled it, wearing gloves, and shot the paint.
It turned out great.

After spraying, allow it to cure for two weeks, unless you can bake it, at 150 for an hour, and even then I would cure for another several days at least. the paint will chip or rub if you take it shooting, sure as heck. So leave it ALONE for two weeks. After several weeks, Break-Free is supposed to be a curing agent, so liberaly rub a soaked rag all over it.
An alternate pattern is to do random sprays of different colors, through a net. Makes a GREAT camo pattern.
