Looking at buying a DW 44, I am not a revolver person, but after owning 2 Anacondas I'd like to expand into more 44s.

Anything I should be looking for on these DW revolvers. Am just even sure if Dan Wesson will still work on revolvers.

I found this blued version, they are asking 750. No barrel wrench just the gun.

I don't see anything in the pics that causes me any concern. I would be shocked if it's got any real issues, the thing is a tank. Is the gun at a LGS or online? Here is my 44, bought on GB about 13 years ago for the even then a little cheap price of $410. Nothing ever has gone wrong with it, the grip has some scratches on it, and the gun itself has a few too.

I like the plum frame!

That's a heck of a deal... and hemi is right, there is very little to go wrong on the large frame Dans. The .44's are not as uncommon as something like my .41... for which parts are Unobtanium.... and I regularly see .44 parts on eBay and GB, etc quite regularly. FWIW, my Dan Wesson handles heavy recoil like no other revolver I've ever shot. 250grn cast over a healthy charge of W296? No problem... They are fantastic revolvers.

Parts are easily found... if you ever get another barrel, you'll need a shim (to measure the cylinder gap,) and the barrel nut tool... again, which are all easily found on the used market.

ETA: Dan Wesson is now CZ... and they have some parts available, but very little for the big frames, unfortunately. I don't know if they actually service them. Another good source would be the Dan Wesson Forum... a lot of knowledge over there.

Never had a Dan Wesson 44, but have had three of their 22's and a 357. No problems with any, except the 22's were HEAVY. Which isn't surprising since they were just 357's with smaller holes in the barrel and cylinder.

But man they would shoot.

If you handload, these are perfect revolvers to experiment with. Extremely strong and exceptionally accurate with almost any load. Heavy? Yes, but that weight goes a long way toward dampening the recoil. The only difference between the .44 Mag and the .445 Supermag is the frame and cylinder length and those revolvers saw tens of thousands of full power loads in silhouette competitions.

A THR member saw my want ad for a DW 44 and gave me a phone number of a gun shop that had one. So I only have the pictures that the gun shop sent to go off of.

I tried calling CZusa yesterday to see if they still work on the big frame revolvers but they were off.

Nice condition. Looks like someone dropped another gun on it and got a ding on the grips. Might haggle a better price, but yeah, that's a fair price like it is I think. Pretty nice gun.

I like plum receivers too! That's a nice 2-tone effect.
