I would appreciate some help. I can not seem to get an email response from DW in NY. Can somebody please recommend a good gunsmith for a Dan Wesson Pointman Seven with less than 100 rounds fired. I purchased this pistol new in 2007. My pistol has never fed reliably since new; every couple of rounds my pistol fails to return to full battery by 1/16 to 1/8 of one inch. There are vise and tooling scratches caused from the gunsmith that I would like to have removed as well. I have not tried to fire this pistol since 2008. Thanks, Michael

Sorry to hear that, were you using factory ammo? Mine does that with LSWC's that have lead flash at the mouth or a tad bit of the bell remaining.

My Marksman has a tight chamber and yours may too, tight chambers are more accurate but tend to be more finicky.

Take a peek into Fusion Firearms. They do custom work, like bobbing a pistol, etc. I'm sure they must have someone who can help you out. Plus the owner, Bob Serva, was once president of Dan Wesson.

Thank you

For your replies with info. For inquiring minds, Yes Winchester white box 230 and some other factory fodder and six different brands of magazines produced the same results. Anyone else having a tough time getting in touch with DW?

Have youtried to call CZ-USA? The number is 607-336-1174.

If purchased new, your Pointman 7 has a five year warranty. I purchased mine in 2007 and sent it back twice. They are very pleasant to deal with, and the second time around the pistol came back perfect. They even refinished the frame the second time to make up for the inconvenience. My problem was spitting brass all over the place and a consistent dent in the casing. The second time they replaced the slide and it has performed flawlessly ever since.

I seriously recommend calling them, and having the work done under warranty.

I am also sad they have discontinued the Pointman 1911 series. I like mine enough that I'm sending it out to have the front strap checkered.
