Just passin through!
Hi guys, just wanted to let you all know I took my new DW PMA-S out over the weekend for a little range time.... She is a great shooter, this being my first 1911 .45ACP I was not sure what I was up for. I'm glad to say I enjoyed the heck out of shooting this hand gun. Accurate, functioned excellent, and just plain fun to shoot. Only issue I had was with the factory DW PointMan 7 round (cheesy) magazine. I had brought along a couple MecGar 8 round nickel mags as well and had no issues with them. I experienced what I can only describe as a double feed, to separate but very close firings, almost like a very quick double tap. Tried a few times switching out the mags and it happened every time I used the DW factory 7 round mag.
Other than that I am extremely pleased with my DW PMA-S and very happy also with the folks at DW and GunBroker as the deal went very smooth and clean. Prompt call from Ginny at DW regarding payment and delivery and follow up emails from Bob Serva too. Glad to join the fellowship of other 1911 owners and shooters....mack

mack69,
sounds like a case of "hammer-follow". Not uncommon in the 1911, but a dangerous condition. A hammer and/or sear engagement somewhere isn't up to snuff. I would fight the urge to keep shooting your shiny new gun and get that checked out pronto. If left unchecked, you could wind up with a full-auto 1911. Seriously.

November is dead on -- you could find yourself trying to hold on while the whole magazine-full rattles through the chamber. You need to contact Dan Wesson on this, pronto.

Update

Ok guys, here's a couple pics of some shots from my second time out to the range with my PMA-S. Unlike my first time out I had no issues with the factory DW mag. I believe the funky double firing thing was due to me and not being familiar with the gun. I shot almost 400 rounds through her with zero issues at all with any of the mags I used. I used 2 - 8 round MegGars, 2 -8 round CMCs and the DW factory 7 round mag and it ate all I gave it. Using 230 grain Winchester FMJ at 10 yards. Still getting the hang of the gun but I am very impressed at it's accuracy and function. I love this gun!!!....mack :biglaugh:

RE:DW

Nice shooting. I'm getting very similar results with my PM7S. I've only had a few FTF with some plated SWC, but in fairness these rnds had used brass with some dents, etc. I'll try some factory SWC with my new 47D Wilson mags which should arrive next week, before I pass finaly judgement on the SWC in the PM7S. I have no problems with WWB FMJ or JHP.

As for the double-firing, it's very easy to do with the light trigger, especially if you have fired Glocks and developed the habit of holding the trigger back after firing, for quicker trigger reset. This works for Glocks to increase accuracy, but it's not too good with the 1911 trigger, I know from experience;)
