when shooting, or as part of their "gun enthusiast persona"? It probably goes back to my childhood, when cowboys rode the silver screen in black and white (well, maybe not that far,but we had a B&W TV), but I forced myself back in the 70's & 80's (eventually I overcame all the wisecracks, etc, as I lived in Ohio at the time) to make a cowboy hat a frequent part of my leisure and range attire. To me, it speaks of a certain sense of freedom, of the Spirit of the West; just being free. It also keeps the rain off your head and the sun out of your eyes (yes, they are even practical). If you own a quality one, it may even last a lifetime. They are not for everyone, but I believe they are somehow linked to the freedom associated with our country, as are our guns. Anyone else get a kick out of wearing a cowboy hat, outside of the obvious "cowboy shoots/ S.A.S.S., etc?
