EAA bounty hunter 44 mag

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this pistol- I occasionally hunt with a 44 mag rifle and literally just because was thinking of getting a 44 mag revolver to go with it- I have a bunch of single actions but all in 45 colt (as well as a 45 colt carbine)
Anyway anyone have one or recommend something else- I’m open but don’t want to spend a bunch on a whim gun

I've shot 3 deer with 44 mags. One that had a hole through its heart from a 300 grain jacked soft point ran about 40 yards. The other two shot with Keith 245s dropped in their tracks. (one was a head shot).

.44 mag is the choice for fishermen & backpacker here. we got a bit of everything trying to kill you in the woods of the PNW. Sometimes I get lazy and carry a 5 shot .357.

but I recently got a 5-shot .44 Tracker. Very Lightweight. Going to field it soon for reliability on full house loads. I like the idea of that Keith 245’s! what your load look like?

44 mag is great on game. I think I'm up to ten deer with my redhawk, a 240 or 300 grn. puts them down. Longest shot was 70 yards so far, closest was 8 feet. Only had two go anywhere, most just give up after getting drilled with a 44 slug.

You’re from my neck of the wood! Let people know how big the animals are here. Deer here are not like the ones in North Carolina… they are the size of Cows here!

Yeah, my wife's cousin shot a blacktail buck that field dressed at 275 lbs. Most top out at around 200, but they do get big. I've seen several black bears north of 500 lbs in the Olympics and cascades, and some of our elk can easily top 1000lbs. There are a few toothy critters that get big up here in the left corner of the country.

Yeah, that one buck kinda had powder burns on him, but it was an epic bang flop. Not the closest I ever shot one though, I slammed a decent two point at 6 feet with my sks one time. Overgrown clearcuts can be VERY thick and sometimesyou get surprised at close range!

OP that 5-shot .44 Mag Tracker with ports is nice and light. They be had for under $400 used. $550 new.

Back in the 80s & 90s it was 21 grains of 2400. Now I don't load over 20 grains.

My Redhawk is not light by any means, it's got a 6 round cylinder, 7.5" barrel, and it's stainless. Not sure I'd want to hike with it, but it does help with recoil.

Cannot speak for the EAA Bounty Hunter, but did carry a similar Uberti model for a while partnered with a Marlin 44 mag lever gun. The Uberti shot and handled well, especially liked the "Army" style grip. Eventually traded the Uberti for another passion, have seller's remorse.

Actually, answering the question, I have experience with that handgun. Its manufacture is fine and the fit and finish are also excellent. Its heavy and the action needed some work to refine the trigger feel. A spring kit and stoning would help greatly as even after a few hundred rounds the gun still feels tight. One point of discomfort is in the trigger guard. It is a little tight and with full house loads it bites you on the trigger finger. Medium loads that would stop most things in its tracks are not bad. It is very accurate with my powder coated or "ACME" 200 grain lead bullets at .430 diameter. With some fine tuning to meet the demands of the shooter I think this would make a great hunter or backup when hunting dangerous game.

Have taken multiple head of large white tail with the .44 mag from both carbine and revolver in bullet weights from 180 gr to 240 gr. All did the trick.

Then common sense returned and I decided the chance of getting a shot within capable distances was slight and none and never carried it on a deer hunt. I did get pretty good at shooting 55 gallon barrels at long distances though. It was reasonably cheap fun as I reloaded.

Then common sense returned and I decided the chance of getting a shot within capable distances was slight and none and never carried it on a deer hunt. I did get pretty good at shooting 55 gallon barrels at long distances though. It was reasonably cheap fun as I reloaded.

Ironically, of all the deer I harvested the shortest was from 5 yards, bang / flop. and from a .44 mag. It was a below freezing opening morning and had been for days but not cold enough. I erroneously assumed the small creek that I had to cross to my tree stand would be froze hard enough to support me. One boot went through. Long story short I went up that stand in just one sock borrowed from the dry boot side & no boot and the remaining sock & boot on the other. Luckily my buck walked under me just before dawn. I took several others at ranges 5-10 yards with a .44 Ruger SBH et al . Handgun hunting for me was not unlike many archers range wise. I limited my handgun shots to 25 yards always using iron sights only.
