Ok. I 'm not one for buying a gun across the internet, especially if I haven't actually held one yet. But these look really interesting. Small size, dedicated for CCW, in some cases, and in all around just looks like great quality. Who wishes to pine on about how great these are?

Well pardner, if you really want to see how nice EAA can be the take a look at the "originals"!

Almost all EAA designs are based off of the fabulous CZ line of handguns, specifically the CZ Model 75 and it's variants.

Why have a copy when you can have the real thing??

You might also look at the Taurus line of Millenium Pro pistols.I had a PT145,which is a 10rd 45 double stack,it felt too wide for my hand so I got a PT745 single stack.It's perfect for all weather carry IWB.I also got a 24/7 in 45,and it will become my winter CCW,I really can't figure how they put 12 rds of 45acp in a grip that slim,but it works.Try www.handgunreview.com if you want to see what others are saying about EAA and others.Good Luck...

I have a Witness Compact 10mm that is my CCW and a Baby Eagle 9mm (made by Tanfoglio, same basic gun as witness) and I can't say enough good things about them. Especially the price.

BN, why buy a copy when you can buy the real thing? I agree in this case but how about Kimber, SA, and other 1911 clone makers, why not buy the real thing?(Colt)

Because they are over-priced, over-rated, and the company continualy spurns their civilian customers.

Also, i find www.handgunreview.com to be a little nauseating.

1/2 the time i wonder if those people have any real experience with the guns at all.

Take the Ruger P95 reviews for instance. you have 10 or so 5 out of 5 reviews, and then you have this guy that claims he hates it, and it sucks, and that its a low quality gun, even though it fired 1,200 rounds withought a malfunction, yet he still gives it 3 out of five.

And then you have the guys that are like:

"Dont buy [random brand name]!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are the SuXoRs!!!!!!! Eff minus minus for [random brand name]!!!!!!! Yew shud bUy a Glock!!!!!!!!! Mine fired 10,000,000 rounds of +P+ with no ClEaNiNg and no malfunctions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

i swear some of these Dip-Sticks post reviews with Counter Strike as there only weapons experience.

Adn the guys that do know SOMETHING of firearms fail to realize that different designes do different things. Read the Glock review, and withough a doubt any negative coment will surely reffer to the "mushy trigger", like they axpect it to be a crisp single action or something.

The remainder of the reviewers dont seem to realize that all guns need to be given a break in period in excess of 2 mags.

because the copy is accurate and reliable. it is in all respects just as good as the "real thing" but significantly less expensive. i own a witness. purchased used. i use it as a glove box gun. it gets knocked around and i dirty it up real good every time i shoot it, i don't give it the tlc i should, i take it camping and beat the tar out of it while grinding in dirt. it's still reliable and accurate. the darn things are tanks. mine ain't pretty any more but it runs and that's the important part.

on a side note, what causes gun snobs? do they feel better about themselves by paying more than they have to? maybe they're really trying to bleed other people's wallets so they can pick up the cheap stuff. if i had an ffl i'd be tempted to cater to the snobs by charging about three to five times what a product is worth just so they think they're getting the coolest, newest most ninja tactically black thingy. why is it that folks look down on a worthy product that does its thing as well or better than competitors who charge much more? can someone please explain what causes this phenomenon?

It appears that most of the full size EAA guns work pretty well. The compacts (especially the 10MM) can be another story. Do a search for EAA and see what you find.


And if you ever have to enter The Hell which is known as EAA Customer Service, you better have asbestos panties.

I've got a CZ (75B SA) and two Witnesses-full size 38 Super (9x23!) and .45.

IMHO, the Witnesses give the CZ real competition, and that's not considering price. They're nice pistols that could sell (maybe would sell BETTER) for more $$$.

If the CZ breaks or you have a problem
Chances are CZUSA takes care of the problem, and is polite about it.

If the Witness breaks or you have a problem
EAA will probably tell you to go **** yourself (despite the lifetime warranty). That is if you can ever get in contact with them.

The CZ is a nicer made gun (second to none IMO) than the Witness, and is more likely to run correctly out of the box. The Witness is a good gun in general. EAA is just a %$^%% $$%%ing $((% of #*$# company.

That is why you should buy a CZ before a Witness. The only reason to buy a Witness is if you absolutley want a 10mm/38SA in a CZ type platform (and can fix them or know somebody who can).

I have four of them.
3 magazines have split in half
1 slide cracked
2 rear sights have flown off
2 have had feed/extraction issues
1 broken firing pin spring
2 have been flawless and accurate so far

So based on my experience you have a 50/50 chance of getting a decent pistol.

Buy a CZ because it is a better gun sold by a better company.
Only buy a Witness if you can get it at an excellent price ($250 bucks or less).

I agree with atblis. I have a witness compact that has a cracked slide. Trying to deal with EEA is something you don't want to expierence. I even contacted the parent company (Tanfogila) to express my frustration and horrible customer service experience at the hands if their importer. They claimed they would look into the matter, but since that was 4 years ago, I have not been satisfied. As far as the gun goes, I liked it very much. Since the witness is a clone of the CZ 75, I decided to purchase a CZ 75 PCR compact. I am more than pleased with it and the importer CZ-USA.

What are the real world price differences you all are seeing between comparable CZ's and EAA clones? I though they are about the same. I actually have a CZ clone, the Baby Eagle, and it cost me the same as a CZ would if not more. Baby Eagle too, while Israeli, has Tanfoglio parts too.

Actually the only CZ clone I really want right now is much more than a CZ, the Swiss Sphinx series.

I did the same thing. Could have saved the bandwidth for all the good it did. Their response was along the lines of, "We can do nothing for you and hopefully they will take care of your gun". They didn't, so it's gone.

Ok. So the customer service thing just totally turned me off. At least there were more than 1 post about how horrible the CS is at EAA apparently. I found a shop here in town that sells them, but he seemed over priced $400 for the Witness 9mm.

Yes. Definitely over priced. The gun stores here don't even carry them. I only see them at the shows.

$400 is too much. Dealer cost on that gun is probably below $300.

The only reason I have more than one Witness is due to CDNN having some clearanced ones for $269.99

Buy a CZ. You'll be happier.

The only reason to own a Witness is if you want a 10mm or a 38 super.

There are of course other reasons to own the Witness steel models. I have no experience with the polymers. My Elite Stocks are excellent pistols, in 40 and 9mm. See my review here for details on them. Once Eric Larsen gets my holster finished I will be carrying them regularly. They are accurate, ergonomic, well featured pistols. Their ammo capacities are excellent (15 and 18), and have very little recoil due to their massive bull barrels. To me the Stock is the CZ platform optimized for its role as a defensive pistol. Other than a trigger tuning (which I do to all my guns) and a feed ramp polish on the 9mm, they have performed well out of the box.

In the base guns I have yet to see a problematic full-size steel model in 45. Personally I think the 45s are the most reliable performers in the family out of the box. They make for a handy 10 round 45 that costs very little money. Tanfoglio is choosing wisely in making that the basis of all their current steel models. My 10mms and my one 38 Super needed some tweaking. However, it is nice to see current production double-stacked guns in those calibers. Of course I would prefer the Stock in those as well.

Then there is the Match:

These are available now in the US although not yet on the EAA web site. To me this is the base Witness. I would likely not buy anything plainer than that as it saves me doing sights, trigger, safeties, etc. They cost much less than the Stock.

There are some interesting P-Carry models coming that are like the Tanfoglio Force series. Again I have no experience with them, so cannot comment. My view on CCW is that I dress for what I carry, so I do not need a compact pistol or something particularly light weight. As for opinions on the line, I only advocate guns that I have personally owned or at least shot extensively. I don't have a Match yet, but that could change in the near future.

EAA Witness P 45acp

I purchased a lightly used Witness P Compact 45acp and took it to the range today, I am very impressed! I have a GSR, P 200, P245 and Glock 30 which, in my experience, are fine weapons and I consider the Witness right up there in performance! I paid $242.00 - with box, 2 mags and feel I got a great deal and a good carry weapon, not a single problem, 100 rounds. Phil
