Hey a buddy of mine is looking into getting a eaa witness in 10mm and I was wondering if there was a dealer in iowa that carried the 10mm or a large framed witness that he could get his hands on?

See if your can find a cz75 to hold. The witness match elit does have a bit longer reach as it is made to chamber the 10mm round and the cz does not but basic feel and weight and shape will be the same. They are not pistols for small hands and will wieght in closer to 40 oz not the 32 or 34oz advertized. Darn sure a great shooter and very accurate. Mine cost me thru my local shop 499 a year ago when cost was 640 new. Options and accesories can be bought from henningshootsguns and go to brian enos eaa forums for info and support from shooters.

I saw one at the CR gun show. Try Sieh guns out of Avoca or Gabes Guns out of Williamsburg.

Where are ya in Iowa?

Sieh is kinda tough to get ahold of. Be patient with him.

Have your buddy Google "Witness frame cracks" and "EAA customer service" before he buys the gun.

Ya he's handled my cz 75b and like it I'm located between cedar rapids and Waterloo. My friend and I were at the CR gun show last weekend but I did not see an large frame witness the only one we could get are hands on was a 9mm.

I own an Elite Match Witness in .45; while I am neither a metallurgist nor the kind of guy who shoots many thousands of rounds before breakfast (sadly), I am skeptical that a gun that feels so solid could crack under other than outrageous circumstances. Is frame cracking a known problem with .45s as well?

I dont see why the gun would have problems with the slide breaking as long as you had the right recoil spring for the right load

Yeah, I know. I have a Witness .45 and a .38 Super. They seem solid.

But did you Google "Witness frame cracks"? Try "Witmess slide cracks" while you're at it. The 10mm guns seem to have the problems along with a few .45s.

Don't these guns come with some kind of warrenty?

The warranty doesn't help if EAA's "gunsmith" won't talk to you or if he insists that whatever is wrong with your gun was caused by you shooting hot handloads through it.

NOTE: He won't ask you what ammo you used. His default position is that it's the owner's fault and EAA isn't responsible in any way.

You might get good service. It's happened. But that's not the way to bet.

Seriously, EAA has a reputation for the worst customer service in the industry.

but they do have a lifetime warranty don't they? I would think that should cover everything. I have two pistols myself a cz75b and a hi point c9 the lifetime warranty with the hi point is outstanding they fix it pretty much ever happens.
