Hell when i can not any longer buy a j frame that is completly bullet proof then nothing is. Satorno v if you talk the the gunsmith like you know it all he ain't gona help you. And if you read s&w's own reports on there 29-1,2,3 you will see that saami ammo can and has caused problems for them. Would a cylinder backing up or opening when your live depended on it be a problem? It does happen enough for s&w to contenue to try to get it right. You can crack a slide or other parts with to much recoil spring for hot loads just as easily as to light. Just causes damage at a different place. and that has happend with witness pistols. Learned that from a factory shooter for a cz team and confermed buy a witness team shooter. Same thing with 1911's. So whos at falt.. I hope if you find that smith 10mm it does not cause problems ,aaaaa forbid if that should happen. I have never had a gun i did not like . Even new j frames are no longer bullet proof what next.

Look for an older model if you want to shoot some full power 10mm.
Plenty of them out there for sale, or there were at one time.

I'm told that the people with cracked slides are having them replaced by EAA,,
who use guess what?

The older slides!!

I still don't know if they are having probs with the round slides and .38 Super.

i have the witness .45acp and i love it, a friend has the witness 10 mm and loves ot, dont know age on either...

Saturno,

Still rippin' Tanfoglio at every opportunity?

You may or may not have actually had a bad experience. What I wonder is why you pursue it with a vengeance. I've bought, sold and traded a dozen guns that did not live up to my expectations since I began reading your "I hate EAA" posts.

Glad to hear you are happy with your Bersa.

I shoot a Tanfoglio Elite Match in competition. The one I compete with is in .45 ACP, but I've won about 80 percent of my matches. I have not had a failure. Not a FTF or an FTE.

I've never even seen a Bersa in IDPA or IPSC.

For goodness sake, get over it.

The funny thing for me is that I hate EAA but love Tanfoglios. The design and construction of the pistols are such that I would buy an EAA, in spite of EAA, just to have the Tanfoglio pistol.

That is why I like the Witness Match - it is fully-assembled by Tanfoglio.

I have the same feelign of Ash..love Tanfoglio (if they can get few things right) but hate EAA.

Loop

I do not start "hate thread" on Tanfoglio..when people ask suggestions or want to know more about EAA here on the forum and the Witness pistols I offer my personal experience and the one of other individuals I know that had problems with this particular pistol, which I can guarantee it's true...that's all...people can read it the way the want...as suggestion, as warning or whatever.

Yes I'm particularly upset about it because these pistols have huge potential if they were backed by a serious company...they look nice, they are accurate (when they work) and they have excellent ergonomics.

A bit more of QC and resolving some structural issues would make the Witness 10 mm the ultimate magnum power level autoloader, a formidable wood defense gun...15 rounds of full house 10 mm pills....it would seriously threaten the position at the moment occupied by the Glock 20.

That's the reason why....and if these issues were resolved (decent CS, QS and structural) I would buy one again in a heartbeat, even at higher price.

It's one thing to state an opinion, but it's another to be obsessed by it, especially based on admitted limited experience.

The 10mm Witness Elite Match, at $500 or so, is a better pistol than the Bren Ten. The 10mm Witness Elite Stock is half the price and much better than the Bren Ten and every bit the ideal pistol in Jeff Cooper's eyes.

I'm not obesssed...once in a while someone in this forum ask an opinion on the EAA Witness because he/she is interested in it and I assume he/she never did read, yours, mine or everybody else opinion in older threads otherwise he/she would not ask...don't you think??

So when that someone ask I offer my experience (brief timewise, only few months or so but "intense") and the one of other users that intended to use the pistol as "real" 10 mm Auto handgun (for "real" means ~1300+ fps 180 gr.)
We were a small group of 10 mm Auto aficionados at my range...5 cracked slides it's not what I call exactly a "limited experience".

Other forum members reports their legit experiences, good or bad...then the OP will form his own and act on it...

It is perfectly possible that the Witness in a more sedate chambering (40, 9 or 45) perform flawlessy...I'm not familiar with these and I do not comment on them because....I just dont' know....

The EAA customer service problem, I presume, is the same anyway...
