I don't have a full size .40 S&W gun so I was thinking of maybe getting an EAA Witness because it might also be fun to try some "odd ball" calibers like 10mm or 38 super, and maybe also have 9mm top for cheap practice.

On the EAA website its not clear at all which conversion kits will fit what frames.
Anyone know? Witness pistols are supposed to have lots of user changable options, like ambi safties, but www.eaacorp.com is a pretty poor site for any real info.

OTOH saw a CZ 40B at the gun show this weekend, but it was gone when I went back to get it. The witness guns seem to be pretty much a clone of the CZ75B so if the caliber conversion don't work out to be a strong plus for the Witness, I'd probably get a CZ instead.

Howdy,

Before I get started let me say I don't know jack about the witness polymers or how they fit into this scheme.

The Witness comes in two basic vareities, large frame and small frame. The small frame pistols are chambered in 9mm and .40 The large frame pistols are chambered in everything else. For maximum versitility you want the large frame.

Say you have a .45 witness. You're just a slide/barrel/spring/mag change away from 10mm. Once you have a .400 slide you can swap barrels between 10mm/.40/9x25/.38super(I think)/.357sig.

To run .40 out of a large frame you need a large frame .40 barrel, which doesn't come in any production gun but are available. Check out this sight for some good info
