I do hand load, and agree these rifles can get pretty hungry under the right conditions...

I did look at the Skinner sights but wanted something with easier and more finite adjustment, so ended up with the Williams FP with the target knobs. I plan on working up 3 loads for this rifle and wanted some flexibility for sighting it in...

1. My standard 38 special load...158 gr LSWC
2. A general purpose Varmint load using either a 110 or 125 gr JHP bullet
3. A deer hunting load with either a 158 or 180 gr JSP bullet

Maybe my sight choice is a bit overkill on this rifle, but i'd like the ability to quickly dial in the right setting for each load in the field. I can envision switching up from magnums to specials on a typical day out in the field

So far the Williams fit well and are very easy to adjust, but the target knobs are way too big for this sight in my mind... I'll keep using them, but not happy with the size.

Yeah, if you're interested in "easily and finely adjustable" then the Williams FP will have it all over Dr. Skinner's sights.

Sounds like you've got a winning setup. Something that does just what you want it to do. That's all that matters.

I'm just plinking with .38 at short range about 90% of the time, so the set nature of the Skinner doesn't bother me at all. Not sure how much POI changes between .38 and .357, but I don't guess it starts to matter much until the 40-yard line or so. I could be wrong; never tested it.

Again, congrats. You'll love shooting it, I'm sure. I'm about this close to getting a simple reloading setup mostly on account of this carbine.

Got my gun

Picked up my gun today and I couldn't be happier. Ordered my skinner sights too..69.00 . Can't wait to break her in

It remains to be seen how the adjustability of the FP sights will matter given the 38 vs 357 difference in velocity and trajectory. I'll do some testing when I have some time and report on it under another thread.

Yes, got it pictures will be on their way shortly.

As to reloading set up ... a few years ago I went with the RCBS Rockchucker Supreme and Lee Dies, got a great deal through MidwayUSA... learned the ropes with this set up, then moved on to the RCBS Piggyback Progressive set up which bolts right onto the Rockchucker. So far I'm very happy with this set up and its been a great learning tool for me. There are a lot of choices, Dillon, Hornady, Lee, etc. Let us know what you decide on.
