Greatings!

The LGS has an East German Makarov for $349. The gun is probably 80%, has two mags, and it fitted with a Pearce soft rubber grip.

Good deal, bad deal or indifferent?

Thanks,

Hunter

I would buy it, most go for $400 and up. Saw one on GB sell last night for $355+30 s&h + the transfer fee. That's the cheapest I've seen in a good while.

On the internet, East German Makarovs routinely seem to go for more than $349 + shipping + paperwork. If you want one, that seems like a good deal nowadays. They are considered the best of the Makarovs, but I'd be interested to hear how much different they are from the Bulgarian ones.

Even if it isn't a screaming deal today, it will be in a year, and you still would have gotten it for $349.

I got my Bulgarian for $275 OTD about a year and a half ago, and that was the way I saw it.

For $350., with 80% wear and Pierce grips instead of the originals?? Naw, I'd pass on that one. If you were collecting Mak's, then I'd want one in much better condition for that price.

My brother has an older East German Makarov and it's overall fit and finish was very good. Metal polishing and bluing were first rate and were nearly equal to that of some U.S. manufacturers. At that price I would buy it.

I think it is a good deal. Great deal? Maybe not, especially not having seen the gun, but I would buy it. The German guns are generally considered the cream of the crop. Mine is the best of the 5 Maks I currently own.

If you want a Mak, the East Germany ones are the best of the bunch. I have one and an early Russian commercial with adjustable sights. The Pearce grip is good if you plan to shoot it a lot but bulks the gun up for concealed carry.. Original grips can be found on the well known auction site. I bought my German Mak for $300 about 5 years ago, excellent condition with holster and two mags. The Russian was under $100, but that was in 1985. Maks are, in my opinion, excellent handguns. Mine feed anything with 100% reliability.

Bought one on 93... Then 150 bucks..wish kept it awesome gun..lot bargains back then..this is a well made gun..
