Has anyone tried to sell firearm related stuff on ebay? I know eBay isn't really firearm freindly but I searched before posting and saw a lot of stuff that was for sale like mags for AKs, etc so I recently tried to sell a 74 type bayo and they deleted it stating:

You recently listed the following listing:

251244209576 - AK-74 Plum bayonet, good shape, soviet.

Unfortunately, we had to remove your listing because of the following:

You listed an item that is part of an assault weapon. We do not allow the sale of assault weapon parts or accessories on the site. This is due to various restrictions throughout the United States regarding the distribution and sale of any assault weapon part or associated accessory. Please do not relist this item. We understand that there may be some concern regarding the removal of an active listing but please be aware that we?re attempting to maintain a safe trading environment and have your best interests at heart.

Due to numerous laws and regulations regarding the sale of assault weapons (including parts and accessories for assault weapons), these items aren't allowed on eBay.

You may list accessories that would fit a variety of different weapons, such as scopes, sites, and shoulder straps. However, if you sell these items, you may not mention assault weapons in your listing.

Listings describing parts or accessories for an assault weapons will be removed, including items that do not attach to assault weapons.

To learn more about our assault-weapons policy, go to:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/firearms-weapons-knives.html

All fees related to this listing have been credited to your account. We also notified members who placed bids on the item that the listing has been canceled.

I see there are other bayonets for sale on eBay as well as mags, muzzle breaks, scopes, cleaning kits, etc, what is particularly scary about this 74 bayonet?

Yeah, they are OK with you selling stuff but let's not state what it is....yeah they do take like 7% of whatever it sells for, so for example I was trying to sell this thing for 75 bucks it would only be like 5.25$ for listing it so its not too bad, especially if your just trying to get rid of some stuff and are not trying to make a living on eBay. Anyway anyone want to buy a 74 bayonet, plum?

They have some pretty stringent rules about things.
I tried to sell some new ecigs. made a good ad, lots of pics, got all the way to the end of the process, and got the hammer.

Years ago they didn't used to be so uptight.

I only use eBay if there is no other recourse. If I am trying to sell something, I will use every other method I know of to avoid using eBay. If for some reason I can't get rid of the item I bite the bullet and list on eBay. Their fees are insanely high and they have only gotten worse since eBay merged. I sold a set of CT grips on eBay about a month ago. Factor in shipping and eBays cuts, I only got about $150 for it.

Interesting. What would be a fair price for 24/7 access to a world wide market?

True, some of their policies are bs, but no organization, especially one as large and far-reaching as ebay can be all things to all people. I have had excellent conflict resolution and customer service.

They've reversed themselves from a near total ban on things firearms-related, to allowing a relatively wide range of parts and components. From a business perspective, I can see their point in wanting to steer clear of the morass of different state, county and municipal laws on assault ... um, I mean modern sporting arms. Yes, the OP's listing said "bayonet", but it also said AK-74. So their software (or human) flagged this among the millions of listed items.

By they way, don't discount the possibility that some ninny ebay users out there flagged your auction for review as objectionable, just to be an anti-2A PITA. It's happened to me...

wont touch ebay for buying or selling anymore....ebay/paypal are just horrible. Much easier to Craigslist stuff or use specific forums.

eBay is good if you can't find it on Amazon; PayPal is awesome - I can deposit money in my UK bank account.

Track record on gunbroker is 100% positive. eBay is lucky to be 50% from my experience. I've been flat-out robbed on eBay.

Ebay is retarded. They removed a joke item "Cave Man's Assault Rock" from their site multiple times.

Their reasoning was that since it was an assault weapon accessory it couldn't be sold on their site. It was literally just a rock with an amusing description indicating that it was possibly the very first assault weapon ever used by humans.

Their house, their rules. Know the rules beforehand and there's no surprises. May not like their rules or agree with them but that's what they are. I use them to buy and have no issues. Use them to sell and no issues. Some complain about their fees... fine and dandy, don't use them. I can reach millions more with their service than any other so a few nickels and dimes isn't a biggie since the item will sell for more.
What I do think is sad are all those trying to circumvent their rules with false descriptions. They're SOO against ebay and it's rules et they're fine so long as they can make a buck. $ talks.

I have almost got ripped off on eBay as well, but that was a long time ago and they do a lot to protect purchases now. That being said the fee is a bit steep. The removal policy seems spotty at best they must only run certain keep word searches. I just ordered a sight for an AR not two days ago, and in the past have purchase some Nagant parts and other odds and ends.

The last stuff I sold on ebay (recently, this year), ebay fees accounted for over 10% of the final value. Paypal takes it's percentage too, on top of that. (3 to 4% or so?). 14% is more than the margin on a lot of things, I don't know how the people with ebay stores do it. I was just selling off some things I don't use anymore, so it's not a big deal to me, but if there fees were better, they would make more off me based on the volume, as I'd sell 20 items a month instead of 10 a year.

If you try to sell something local and it doesnt sell or if your town is like tucson, where everything seems to sell cheap. paying 14% on a sale that nets you 200% of what you would get local is worth it. Ive been looking for a rear sight for my arisaka. Nothing local is available they pop up on ebay usually for 50-100 dollars. Around here a whole arisaka sells for 125-200 bucks unfortunately the anti aircraft sights are usually missing. jim

Their rules change with the wind and you can get anything yanked for virtually any reason, especially if you use the words 'copywrite violation' as your defense. Its the magical catch-all anti-competition clause that allows ebay to terminate your auction based on the mere say-so of others.

Yep, we still buy and sell on ebay. But I wouldn't be surprised at the market hemorrhaging it would endure if something equal or better ever came along.

I reported it for being a pointless troll auction.

Ebay is great for selling rare gun parts that would otherwise go unsold on gunbroker.

They do TONS of gun stuff, just try to avoid anything related to ARs or magazines above 10 rounds - they'll shut it down.

There is TONS of MSR stuff and standard capacity mags on Ebay, they're just listed carefully.

Search "10 round magazine clip" and see how many 13, 15, 17, 19, 20, 30 & higher capacity mags turn up labeled as 10 round for compliance.

I fondly remember eBay in its infancy. It was great. Sold a Coonan .357 that I won at a Friends of the NRA dinner. Worked like Gunbroker. Shipped to the buyer's FFL dealer....Ahh, those were the days.
