I'm looking for a rail mounted light for my new Glock 21 (can be a laser/light combo but I don't really care about the laser all that much at this point.) I know what I WANT: I want a surefire X300 or X400 with the (DG) remote switch? The one that is specifially tailored to the particular gun. It runs under the trigger guard and rests at the top of the grip so you can activate it with your middle finger.

The problem? I'm not shelling out 250 for the light, 90 bucks for the switch, and ill probably need some sort of adapter that surefire will charge me 100 bucks for lol.

Are there any other good options out there that won't kill my wallet? I really like the Streamlight TLR-1 but they don't have tailor fit remote switches. Does anyone have any experience with regular tape switches? Pros, cons? Coiled/non-coiled cord?

Or are you aware of another light option that DOES have a switch like the Surefire DG switch?

Thanks everyone :-D

I think the Streamlight TLR-1, without the tape switch would be the way to go.

Tape switches are a huge pain in the butt, as is the coil cord, sticky tape, and attendent mess.

The Streamlight TLR-1 has very convenient, easy to use switch that can be operated with the trigger finger just fine.

If you don't hardwire it to your gun with a tape switch, it comes of in a second when you don't need or want it in the way.

I was considering that. I checked a little while ago I didn't realize that it had a momentary on switch that your weak hand thumb can hit while maintaining a regular grip. I just might have to save up for the stupid surefire eventually, lol.

TLR-1 looks like a great temporary solution. Thanks!
