Gentlemen,

I am looking to finally pull the trigger and buy a Surefire X300. I want to mount it to either my Colt 6940 or Sig 226R (and if it's as good as I'm hoping, I'll probably get a second so I don't have to swap lights).

When I mount it on the AR, does it matter which side of the forend I have it on (i.e. 12, 3, 6, or 9?). Currently, I have a vertical foregrip. I was also looking to get a pressure switch mounted to the foregrip. How does this affect holding the foregrip? Does it become less comfortable with the pressure switch on? I was looking at the ST07 foregrip with the Velcro attachment, is this pretty stable? http://www.surefire.com/Plug-In-Tape-Switch-for-WeaponLight The grip says I need a XT adapter for the ST, but I haven't been able to find just the adapter that goes on the back of the X300 without the pressure switch.

I was also looking at the XT07http://www.surefire.com/Remote-Switch-Assembly-for-X300, which is similar to the ST07 except it mounts to the rail instead. Can I use a rail mounted switch with a vertical foregrip? Playing around with it, I guess I could use my thumb to actuate the switch, but it doesn't look too comfortable. But on the other hand, it does keep the pressure switch off the foregrip which will always have my hand on it, and during the times I need the light, I can just position my thumb up to the rail.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Numaone

In my opinion if you run a vertical fore grip anyway you can save your money and simply mount a G2 light in 45 degree flashlight brackets on the opposite side of your fore grip hand. You can activate the tail switch with your thumb.
