EDC knife for $200ish

I’ve been carrying and using the Spyderco for a couple weeks now. It’s so much more handy and easier to use than the one it replaced - especially while wearing light gloves which I do when I’m feeding and watering the chickens, rabbits and goats.

So far I’ve cut hale bale twine, made very quick work of skinning and gutting a couple of meat rabbits and a very field expedient kill and butcher of rooster who took his antics a little too far.

Thanks for all the suggestions - I’ll use them as I buy my next knife in the coming month or so.

I ordered from Blade HQ. didn’t want to take a chance on a fake from amazon just to save $15.

I’ve always kept my knives sharp enough for what they do, but this is the sharpest knife out of the box I’ve ever had. How does one keep the razor sharp edge...as opposed to the edge I assume most people can accomplish with a regular sharpening stone and oil?

Spyderco Sharpmaker. Quick, easy, and worth the cost.

I don't let my knives get butter knife dull and give them touchups every so often.

Part of what you're experiencing is the very thin full blade height grind, aka "edge geometry" in knife nerd speak, that gives the excellent slicing performance Para 2 and similar knives are well known for. There are numerous options for sharpening. The Sharpening FAQ sticky her on THR is a good place to start - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/sharpening-faq.8341/. If you still have questions, feel free to ask in the FAQ thread or start a new thread on that topic.

I'm loving my cheap $15 Ganzo knives. Axis lock and 440c. Takes as good an edge as my Benchmade Grip and wont bother me when it gets lost. Surprisingly well made, China knives sure have come a long way in the last decade.
