I don't like the click-baity title, but the content was good. It should have been titled "I took two college students to buy guns".

I wish the guy had taught the girls the other 3 rules of safe gun handling, but his style was good. He let them come to their own conclusions. They were open-minded enough to listen and go along with him.

Now they, in turn, will educate others as the opportunity arises.

I did this with my wife this year. Started the process with my daughter when she was 6 (Daisy Buck BB gun) and took her shooting last weekend, now that she's 10. She only shot a 22LR pistol, but these people under my wing are at least not going out into the world with strong beliefs and no facts or experience to back them up.

Here's a short video of my daughter's first shots. It's a bit grueling, how long it took her to take that first shot, but you can see how nervous she was. The gun was a rental Ruger SR22 with a busted-up extractor, but it served the purpose. (I couldn't get her to do the wedge hold, so I settled for this)

On the other hand, I tried to talk to my sister, who is a rabid anti-gun person out in Southern CA. She would NOT listen with an open mind; just kept labeling me because of her beliefs. She said things like: "No one needs a gun." and "They should just take all the guns." I reminded her that has been tried before throughout history and it was right before a tyrannical government take-over. I also asked her if she thought "they" would be able to get criminals to turn in their guns. If not, where would that leave us? To which she replied: "Whatever, redneck." I said she was ignorant but doesn't want to listen or learn the facts; she just wants her beliefs. Belief in the absence of evidence is just faith, and that's a different topic. We didn't talk for many months after that day, and now we both know there's no point in discussing it further. Her mind is closed.

Please tell us your stories of how you guys educated people or tried to.

There is no one on earth that is more arrogant, condescending and intolerant than a liberal who doesn’t agree with you. They go straight to dismissive insults as soon as someone with an intelligent position takes an opposing view.

Take the high ground. Always avoid going tit for tat with insults and realize at some point she will become a victim and wake up to reality. One can only live in a fantasy world for so long.

Stay safe.

In that regard, this was a good experience. The "babes" were open-minded, even though ignorant. He also didn't lay into them for their ignorance, tempting as it is sometimes.

Probably didn't hurt that the guy is a tall & handsome young guy, either. ;-) If it had been me who made that offer, the response would've been: "I don't think so, creeper." o_O

Same here!

If I had a dollar for every woman that didn’t find me attractive… eventually they would find me attractive. ;)

Stay safe.
